Speakers and Special Guests
Clorasteen Wilson. Throughout all fifty-eight years that Clorasteen Wilson has lived in the
Bryant neighborhood she has been, and continues to be, heavily engaged in voter
outreach, policy advocacy, and community activities. She ensures neighbors know about
candidates and can make informed decisions at the polls, and helped to elect our city’s first
African American mayor Sharon Sayles Belton. Ms. Wilson is a longtime delegate to DFL
conventions, both at the state and local level. Notably, Ms. Wilson attended President
Jimmy Carter’s inauguration and was invited to attend the inaugurations of President
Ronald Reagan and President Bill Clinton.
Doris Christopher. Doris Mae Christopher is a life-long Minnesota resident, born in Duluth
and raised in Minneapolis. With over thirty years of service upon her retirement from MidMinnesota Legal Aid, Mrs. Christopher was honored by Minnesota State Bar Association
with the Bernard P. Becker Legal Services Staff Award in 1996 and received a
congratulatory letter from Senator Paul Wellstone. Active in political life, Mrs. Christopher
the inauguration of the 44th United States President Barack Obama. Mrs. Christopher is a
board member of the Park Elder Center and serves on the Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Park
Legacy Advisory Council.
Iric Nathanson. Iric Nathanson has long-standing ties to East 38th Street. In the 1960s,
just out of college, Iric worked as community organizer in the Central and Powderhorn Park
neighborhoods. Now, 50 years later, he is a Business Advisor with the Powderhorn Parkbased Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers and has served as MCCD’s
liaison with the 38th and Chicago Business Association. Iric is also a local historian and the
author of Minneapolis in the Twentieth Century, The Growth of an American City,
published by the Minnesota Historical Society in 2010.
Judge LaJune Lange. Judge Lange, a retired State of Minnesota Trial Court Judge, is an
internationally-recognized expert in Human Rights and International Development
conducting assessments and programs in Qatar, Tanzania, Rwanda, Brazil, Malawi,
Norway, Kenya, the Caribbean and other parts of the world. She is the founder and
President of the LaJune Thomas Lange International Leadership Institute, where she
develops legal, health and education programs while facilitating economic and
intercultural exchange. Judge Lange serves on the Board of Regents of Augsburg College
and is a senior fellow with the Roy Wilkins Center for Human Relations and Social Justice.
She has served as Co-Vice Chair of the Minnesota Supreme Court Task Force on Racial
Bias in the Courts, on the Minnesota Supreme Court Task Force on Gender Fairness in the
Courts, and is also a founding member of the Minnesota Minority Lawyers Association.
Speakers and Special Guests
Louis Moore. Louis Moore is 72 years old, but you couldn't tell by looking at him.
Louis has been a vehicular cyclist for 50 years and is a co-founder and President of the
Major Taylor Bicycling Club. Mr. Moore worked for former Congressman Martin Olav
Sabo for nearly two decades, and partnered with former Congressman Jim Oberstar
on bike rides in northern Minnesota. Louis has gone on bike tours since the late '70s to
support the United Negro College Fund. A long-time neighborhood resident Mr.
Moore has lived in his home for 51 years. He coached football, basketball, and track
and field at Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Park from 1964-1980.
Tracey L Williams-Dillard. Hard work and dedication to her multi-generational
family and family business has always been Tracey Lynn Williams-Dillard’s main
focus. Tracey has a solid understanding of the beliefs and values of her grandfather,
the late Cecil E. Newman, who founded the newspaper, and she is committed to
continuing his legacy. At the tender age of eight, Tracey began her work at the
paper, working odd jobs including mastering and operating the “Address-O-Graph”
machine. Since 2001, she has been the president and chief economic officer of the
80-year- community newspaper. In 2006 she became owner and CEO of the weekly
publication.
Wayne Glanton. Veterans affairs, civic and senior support activities represent just
some of Mr. Glanton’s current activities as he enters his ninth decade. Once serving
as Commander of the John Baker Post of the American Legion, Mr. Glanton is now
Commander of the Fifth District of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Legion,
which includes all of Minneapolis. Longtime owner of an independent construction
contracting business, Mr. Glanton’s company built the Minnesota SpokesmanRecorder building among many other projects in the East 38th Street area. Mr.
Glanton is a proud member of Palestine Lodge Number 7 and constant presence
with the Sabathani Seniors.
