PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
by Madeline Lipka
Off to a great start… I would like to thank each member who attended the annual meeting held in March.
Year after year one thing remains the same, it is always a pleasure to be able to talk with each of you and gather together as
a group.
As we head into a new year, the future is looking “golden”. On the cover of this newsletter you’ll read about our newest
promotion, “I want a golden ticket”. We are giving away $5,000.00 to one lucky winner at our member appreciation day
on June 26th. Over the next few months you will receive the Willy Wonka experience when you enter any of our
branches. The staff did an excellent job decorating their offices to resemble the chocolate factory.
I encourage each of you to refer a friend to CTCU so they can enjoy the same great products and services offered by the
credit union. Bring your friend and your sweet tooth into the credit union to receive a chocolate bar that could contain a
golden ticket. That golden ticket could be worth $5,000.00!
In the words of Willy Wonka himself, “We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams”. On behalf of the
entire credit union, we look forward to an exciting 2010 serving our membership and helping each of you attain your
financial hopes, dreams, and goals.
Sincerely,
Relay for Life
CTCU will be participating in the American
Cancer Society Relay for Life on Saturday,
July 10th and Sunday, July 11th.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life
is a life-changing event that gives everyone in
communities across the globe a chance to
celebrate the lives of people who have battled
cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
The event will take place at Warren Township High School, O’Plaine
campus. Each year, more than 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities in
the United States, along with additional communities in 19 other countries,
gather to take part in this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds
and awareness to save lives from cancer. CTCU will be coordinating
fundraisers at all offices to raise money for this event. For more information
on how you can support the CTCU team please call 662-2050 x 200.

Scholarship Applications Received
We are in the process of reviewing all of the scholarship applications that we have received. We certainly
have some qualified applicants this year! CTCU will be announcing the scholarship winners in the next
newsletter. Winners will be notified by their school. Thank you to everyone who submitted an application.
We wish you the best of luck.
Member Appreciation Day
Join us on Saturday, June 26th from 9am – Noon at our Gurnee office,
1313 Skokie Highway. This event is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our
members and showing them how much we appreciate their loyalty. Hot dogs,
chips and soda will be served up by our employees.
The Last “Golden Ticket”
We will have one golden ticket that we will draw on Member Appreciation
Day. You may get a CTCU Wonka bar and a chance for the golden ticket by
opening a checking account with a $100 deposit, by booking a loan or opening
a VISA, or by referring a member who opens a checking account, books a loan,
or opens a VISA. The drawing will take place at 11:15am. The winner of that
golden ticket will be entered in with the other twenty-four golden tickets for a
chance to win $5,000. The final drawing will be at 11:30am.
Unlike traditional banks which work to serve shareholders, a Credit Union is a
not for profit financial cooperative owned and operated by its members.
Member Appreciation Day will help CTCU honor its member-owners and
showcase the full range of financial products and services available to them.
We hope to see you there!
Viking School Penny Drive
About six years ago, we donated a large fiberglass box to Viking School to
support their drive to collect one million pennies to be sent overseas for
underprivileged children. Although they have not hit the million penny
mark the students have decided to cash in their coins and send the money to
Haiti to show their support.
Several employees helped with picking up the coins from the school.
We counted a total of $1,854.86. That’s 185,485 pennies!
