The DS3 Line Module (DS3LM) is another
addition to the wide array of line cards available to users of the ADTRAN® Total Access
3000 DSLAM. As demand for system scalability increases, the DS3 line module allows
for controlled growth and remote expansion.
The DS3 Line Module enables carriers to
service a greater density of DSL subscribers
per network feed. These subscribers may be
fed ADSL, SHDSL, ISDN, and IMA services.
The DS3 Line Module provides an ATM DS3
interface from two Total Access 3000 DSLAM
line card slots utilizing 44.736 Mbps bandwidth. This fully compliant DS3 signal can
then be fed into another Total Access 3000
DSLAM shelf or any equipment needing a
DS3 network feed.
The DS3LM is a versatile and affordable method of augmenting the abilities of
a standard Total Access 3000 DSLAM shelf.
The versatility of this product, coupled with
the dynamic routing abilities of an ATM
cell switch module enable the DS3LM to be
deployed in numerous valid configurations.
• Two DS3LMs in a shelf in a 1:1 redundant configuration can subtend from
one Total Access 3000 DSLAM to another.
• An entire shelf of DS3LMs in a 1:1 configuration can subtend seven additional
Total Access 3000 DSLAM shelves loaded
with ADSL/SHDSL line cards to effectively provide service for 1568 concurrent
subscribers from one network feed.
• The DS3LM can serve as an alternative
network feed into a shelf supplying a
greater level of redundancy, or a greater
concentration of bandwidth (there are
some physical limits to this routing
scheme).
