Trigenics Lower Extremity Course
(APPROVED FOR 24 FLA HOURS – Chiropractors Association of Australia)
Theory (Home study):
•
14 hours
For first time registrants to a RTP course, completion of the Theory component as
described in the Trigenics Home Study Theory Module Outline.
Lower Extremity Course Description:
Home Study:
• Review procedural manual and DVD assessment and treatment procedures and
functional anatomy.
2 hours
Practical (Hands-on):
24 hours
Didactic Lecture:
• Trigenics introduction, clinical reasoning, muscle neurophysiology and neurosummation theory
• Trigenics Myoneural Kinetic Assessment: strength and length assessment - manual
muscle testing principles, demonstration and practical application
• Trigenics three combined treatment component principles described, demonstrated
and practical application for Trigenics Strengthening (TS) and Trigenics Lengthening
(TL) procedures.
• Trigenics assessment and treatment implementation for clinical scenarios, report and
treatment notes writing, contraindications and safety, and practice management.
Practical Lecture and Hands On Application
• Lower Extremity Individual Muscles Procedures:
o Anatomy description, strength and length manual muscle testing,
Trigenics Strengthening (TS) and Trigenics Lengthening (TL) treatment
procedures per muscle of region.
o Specific Trigenics protocols for clinical conditions of the Lower Extremity
• Evaluations:
• 1) Oral and practical assessment on specified muscles of the region.
• 2) Post course completion and submission of 2 case reports and/or Trigenics project.

• Trigenics® Functional Muscle Neurology overview, history,
and modern day integration into neuro-musculoskeletal health
care and performance training, how Trigenics is different.
• Basic Theory of Trigenics: Trigenics® Neurophysiology,
Dysafferentation, Resafferentation and Resefferentation,
Myopoints, the Trigenics® Triad components, and Therapeutic
Neuro-summation.
• Trigenics Myoneural Kinetic Assessment: theory, principles,
chart, clinical application and patient communication.
• Manual Muscle Testing: Theory, strength testing principles,
length testing principles, and practical workshop.
BREAK
• Advanced theory and principles of Trigenics Treatment Triad:
• Autogenics: definition and key concepts; autogenic
breathing demonstration, teaching the patient proper
breathing technique and practical workshop.
• Neurogenics: definition and key concepts of reciprocal
innervation and the Austin unloading response, inverse
myotactic reflex and PNF, and practical workshop.
• Myogenics: definition and key concepts of PDM
(proprioceptive distortional mechanoreceptor manipulation).
The 3 directional methods of PDM, 4 levels of PDM
application, common errors, practice drills and practical
workshop.
• Trigenics Treatment Procedures Theory and Principles:
Trigenics® strengthening (TS), Trigenics® lengthening (TL).
• Initial Trigenics® treatment procedures to familiarize the
students with performing the treatment protocols.
• Application of simultaneous combination of Trigenics
Treatment Triad for Trigenics® strengthening (TS) and
Trigenics® lengthening (TL) procedures.
• How to be a Trigenics® patient, • How to instruct patient
involvement in Trigenics treatment.
• Teaching the patient how to move his/her body against
resistance during treatment.
• Practice being the Trigenics® Practitioner – the roles and
duties.

Routines for the Lower Extremity:
HIP and KNEE: Psoas, iliacus, gluteus maximus, lateral
rotators, piriformis, gluteus medius/minimus, sartorius, rectus
femoris, vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, adductors, hamstrings,
biceps femoris, tensor fascia latae, iliotibial band, patella

kinetic assessment procedures and TS and TL treatment
procedures.
Trigenics® strengthening (TS) and Trigenics® lengthening (TL)
procedures for the Lower Extremity:
DIAPHRAGM: learn to apply TS and TL procedures to the
diaphragm muscle to enhance Autogenic component of
Trigenics for patients with breathing difficulties.
HIP and KNEE: lateral rotators, piriformis, gluteus
medius/minimus, sartorius, rectus femoris, vastus medialis,
vastus lateralis.
BREAK
HIP and KNEE: adductors, hamstrings, biceps femoris tensor
fascia latae, iliotibial band. Review of the Hip.
LUNCH
KNEE: patella tendons, popliteus.
• Clinical pearls protocols: hip, sciatica and chronic knee
pain.
Trigenics Myoneural Kinetic Strength and Length Assessment
Routines for the Lower Extremity:
Lower Leg & Foot: soleus, lateral gastrocnemius, medial
gastrocnemius, fibularis longus/brevis, tibialis anterior, extensor
digitorum, tibialis posterior, quadrates plantae, flexor digitorum
brevis/longus, extensor digitorum brevis/hallucis brevis extensor
hallucis longus.
