Mars Hill Academy Junior Varsity Performers Present
Tim Kelly’s Adaptation of
“The Secret Garden”

MASON, OH – See a beloved children’s literary classic come to life as the Mars Hill Academy
Junior Varsity performers present The Secret Garden on Friday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 15 from
7-8:30 p.m. at Mars Hill Academy’s St. Andrew’s Hall, 4230 Aero Drive in Mason. Tickets are $7
each and may be purchased at the door or through the Mars Hill Academy school office at (513)
770-3223.
The drama unfolds as Archibald Craven’s beloved wife, Lilias, dies as a result of an accident in her
cherished garden at Misslethwait Manor. Mr. Craven locks the door to the garden and buries the
key, and likewise shuts the door of his heart for ten years. His son Colin lives as an invalid in Mr.
Craven’s mansion, both spoiled and ignored by his father. Like the neglected garden, Colin needs
someone to open the door of his heart and clear away the thistles and thorns.
Enter Mary Lenox, played by Anna Dudley of West Chester (7th grade). An orphan whose British
parents died in India, she sets about to find a way into the garden and to discover the secret to
making both the garden and Colin thrive.
