Macklemore
For Macklemore it’s all about
making a connection with
the people through his music.
Whether it’s his performance
or recorded material, he has
the rare ability to establish a
deeply personal relationship
with his audience. For the
past 10 years he has cultivated
a loyal contingent of supporters across the
country and in the flourishing hip-hop scene
in his hometown of Seattle. This landmark
work of art earned him the opportunity to
rock shows up and down the West Coast.
With his last full-length dropping in 2005,
Macklemore has carefully crafted the pieces
to his highly anticipated follow-up album due
out in the fall of 2008.
Battle of The Bands
- The Brothers Cooley
With influences that include Arthurly, Jimi
Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Tom Petty, the
Brothers Cooley channel the psychedelic
spirit created by musical and spiritual pioneers of the sixties. Offering a cool drink of
water to all those stranded in the ProTools,
chemical-laden musical desert, they have developed a sound that is unique in today's music world, emitting a never-ending effusion of
overpoweringly funky riffs, blues roots, and
overall good grooves.
- Sun Break
Sun Break is a band belonging to an official
club of Seattle Central the Musical Club.
With only a few months under their belt, the
musical club provides a place for people who
love music and want to play together. Sun
Break is:
Amy, the vocalist from Taiwan.
Liem, the pianist from Vietnam.
Kazuki, the lead guitarist from Japan.
Aaron, the drummer from Korea.
And, Beck, the vocal guitarist from Taiwan.

Zumbi of Zion I
Formerly known as Zion of indie stalwart Zion I, Zumbi is the latest incarnation of an MC that has been through
many stages of the game. Since his early
days with the crew Metufour out of Atlanta and their deal with Tommy Boy, he
has always been open to the natural evolution of the artist. Zion I soon released
a slew of LP’s, all to critical acclaim. In
2006, Zion I teamed with the Grouch
(Living Legends) to create another successful album, Heroes
in the City of Dope. With all of this experience under his belt,
it is now time for Zumbi to get his. Already having released
3 volumes of his Science of Breath Mixtape series, he has yet
another project already waiting in the wings. “The Burnerz” is
a new supergroup, with Houston’s veteran beatmaker, the Are,
which is a gritty homage to soulful hip hop. With Zion I’s “the
Takeover” awaiting release in the fall of ‘08, it looks like the
evolution is only just beginning. All massive..hold tight!
One Be Lo
How many rappers can really live up
to the name “OneManArmy?” Hailing from Pontiac Michigan, One Be
Lo has emerged as one of Hip Hop
most respected emcee’s, but skills are
not the only thing that seperates him
from the rest. One Be Lo’s recording
career started with the Michiganbased group “Binary Star.” An excellent performer, at any given moment you might find his calendar booked with shows all over the U.S. and even overseas.
After paying so many dues, years of networking, experiencing
so much in his career and personal life, building a studio in his
basement, One Be Lo has more than enough weapons to bring
new substance not only to his rhymes but to his whole approach. A rebirth is beginning to take place.
Geologic of Blue Scholars
Prometheus Brown is the militant Filipino
b-boy poet alter-ego of Geologic (George
Quibuyen), the emcee half of Seattlebased duo Blue Scholars. Prior to forming
Blue Scholars, Geo was a fixture in local
emcee battles as well as a spoken-word
performer with isangmahal arts kollective
(1999-2004), holding down monthly openmic shows as well as touring the college
circuit while still a student at the University of Washington. Since 2004, he has been active in the movement for genuine freedom in the Philippines as a member of
Anakbayan Seattle (2002-2007) and is a current and founding
member of the Arts Kollective. Taking a brief hiatus this spring
from a rigorous touring schedule with Blue Scholars, Geo will
be showcasing another dimension of his lyricism with solo collaborations and recordings under the alias Prometheus Brown.
