Private home of the Earl and Countess of Stair, the Castle sits in a secluded corner of Galloway in South
West Scotland and yet is easily accessible being only a short distance from Stranraer. Its extensive grounds
offer an unrivalled choice of contrasting wedding locations, a retreat from everyday life where couples can
truly relax and enjoy the most memorable and romantic of weddings.
Whether you prefer a small private religious or civil ceremony with a limited number of guests or a
celebration with 200 friends, we offer an unrivalled choice of fabulous interior and external locations to
create the wedding day of your dreams.
Lochinch Castle is famously surrounded by one of the most splendid and most beautiful gardens in Scotland.
From wherever one looks, the views from the Castle and surrounding terraces over 75 acres of landscaped
grounds are simply stunning. The gardens, ‘Castle Kennedy Gardens,’ as they are known more widely,
positively abound with spectacular flowering plants and exotic trees that frame a marvellous variety of
spellbinding vistas – fabulous for photographs.
This landscape is also peppered with delightful features; little bridges, sweeping lawns and not least, the
intimate Walled Garden with its colourful borders which nestles under the romantic ruins of ancient Castle
Kennedy, adding a distinctive twist to the unique charm of the location.

The whole wedding planning process is carefully managed on your behalf by our Wedding
Co-ordinator from the first moment of contact. Anything is possible. We are happy to tailor
make your wedding to your specific requirements or you may prefer to pick one of our three
packages which also give you the choice of the following venues:
• The principal rooms of Lochinch Castle
are available to hire with a capacity of up
to 200 guests for a champagne reception.
These include the library, drawing room
and a small dining room for more intimate
gatherings.
• A Marquee scaled to your requirements
can be erected on the Castle Lawns
overlooking the White Loch.
• The Victorian Stable Courtyard including
the Carriage House with a capacity of up
to 100 seated for dining.
• The Gardens - ‘Castle Kennedy Gardens,’
including the Loch shores, the tree lined
walks, the Walled Garden and the romantic
ruins of the old Castle itself.
Whether you wish to spend up to £5,000, up to £10,000, up to £20,000 or more, we can offer
you something very special indeed to make your day one of the happiest ever.

Terms and Conditions (Sample Version)
1. Use of facilities: Use of the [insert venue here] for Ceremony/Wedding Breakfast/Evening Reception.
2. Suppliers: Stair Estates maintains a list of approved contractors and suppliers.
• Any suppliers not already on the list must be approved by Stair Estates prior to any contract
being made for their services.
• The Hirer(s) will contract direct with the suppliers and they are responsible for paying them in
full direct.
3. Setting up and taking down: the rooms designated as the Tack Room, the West Stables, the
Carriage House, the Little Carriage House and the East Stables in the Victorian Stables will be
available to the Hirer(s) and their suppliers three days prior to the event date and on the day itself.
• All guests and contractors will depart from Lochinch Castle no later than 12.30am on the
morning following the Event Date.
• With the exception of the marquee, all other items and equipment associated with the event
must be removed from Lochinch Castle by 5.00pm on the afternoon following the Event Date.
• The Hirer(s) will be responsible for ensuring that all waste is removed from site by their
contractors.
4. Deposit: a non-returnable deposit will be payable on confirmation of the booking, with the balance
being due and payable at least three calendar months before the Event Date.
• If for any reason the wedding is cancelled less than 3 months before the Event Date, no refund
will be made.
• All cheques should be made payable to “Culhorn Estate”. Should you wish to pay by either
BACS or credit card, please contact Stair Estates Office.
5. Services: all services (other than potable water) should be provided by external suppliers.
• The use of a chiller for the cooling and storage of wine will be provided free of charge
for the week prior to the wedding.
• The location of portable generators, cable runs and toilets must be agreed in advance
with Stair Estates.
• Car parking requirements must be agreed in advance with Stair Estates. No cars to be
left on the premises overnight.
6. Corkage: corkage on table wines and champagne will be charged at the greater of 20% or a
minimum of £5/bottle other than wine supplied by our supplier.
7. Insurance: Stair Estates has Public Liability insurance in place for Lochinch Castle and Grounds.
• It is the Hirer(s) responsibility to ensure that all contracted suppliers have appropriate Public
Liability insurance in place in respect of the supply of and use of their products and services.
• The Estate accepts no liability for alcohol stored on the premises.
8. General: marquee specification and siting will require to be done in conjunction with Stair Estates
to ensure the integrity of the buildings is maintained.
• The Hirer(s) will supply an agreed timetable of events for the wedding itself and related activities
to ensure adequate staffing and management of facilities to be provided by Stair Estates, no later
than 6 weeks prior to the Event Date.
• Fireworks may be permitted to be discharged on the premises subject to prior approval by Stair
Estates of the supplying company and the proposed design and siting of the display.
• No confetti is to be thrown on the property.
• Smoking will only be permitted in designated areas.
• It is the Hirer(s) responsibility to ensure that appropriate alcohol licences are in place if
applicable.
• In the event of additional or non-standard requirements, Stair Estates reserves the right
to make additional charges relating to the management of the wedding. This is to be done by
prior agreement.
• This agreement cannot be assigned without the prior written consent of Stair Estates.
