We have been fortunate in securing the consent of three Spiritual Masters to bless our conference on three separate days. Confirmation from a fourth is expected. The conference will be inaugurated by Sadguru Sri Sharavana Baba on the afternoon of January 8, 2012 at 4 pm. Yogi Aswini who heads the Dhyan Foundation will be addressing the conference on the morning of January 9, 2012. Srimad Sai Raja Rajeshwari Amma will be addressing the conference on the morning of January 10, 2012. We will keep you posted on further developments in the course of next week. Plans are also afoot to conduct a Maha Ganapathy Homam; Lord Ganesha is the Remover of obstacles in the Hindu Pantheon on January 9, a short mass led by Father Mathew Chandrankunnel on the morning of January 10, and an evocation from the Holy Koran on the morning of January 11, 2012. SADGURU SRI SHARAVANA BABA It is said that Prahalada, that incomparable devotee of Lord Vishnu, outlined nine different ways of worshipping the Supreme Intelligence. These included listening to stories that extol the glory of the Lord (sravanam), singing praises of his greatness (kirtnaam), continuously contemplating His form and deeds (smaranam), serving His divine feet (padasevanam), adoring Him in devotion (archanam), saluting Him with complete surrender (vandanam), unconditionally subjecting the ego to His will (dasyam), befriending Him in thought and deed (sakhyam) and finally, dedicating oneself wholly to Him in body and spirit (atmanivedam). But in the Guru Gita, Lord Shiva tells Devi Parvati, his divine consort, that there is a simpler method, the practice of which, can obtain an ever better result: “The place where the Guru lives in Kashi/The washing of his feet is the holy Ganges/He is Visweshwara incarnate/And his preaching is liberation itself.” These are very precious instructions that have been handed over to us from our scriptures. The meaning of these divine utterances is merely this: the Guru is none other than God in human form! He is the Supreme Self! God, Guru and Ishwara are one and the same. The Guru is in permanent communion in the Self! We are extremely fortunate today to be in the presence of such a Sadguru. We have the good fortune to have Sadguru Murali Krishna Swamigal in our midst today. Sadguru Murali Krishna is a World Preceptor. His mission has been attracting thousands of devotees in the past couple of years. His first Ashram was established in Palakkad and later in Kozhikode. Yet another branch was established in Bangalore (2007) and many more were later established in London, Singapore, Malaysia and the Gulf. He is the living embodiment of love, compassion and mercy and has been providing succor to hundreds of devotees who consider Him to be their sole refuge. Swamiji‟s mission rests on the foundation of love. Love is the bedrock of His Mission. He often says that His mission lies in spreading love and understanding among humankind. If love is the central force of His mission, selfless charity is its vehicle. This includes free food to those who need them, free clothing to those who do not have them, free books to the poor and needy and free medicines for those afflicted by sickness. YOGI ASHWINI Yoga, a 5,000-year-old science, has its origin in the Vedas, the ancient Indian systems of knowledge. Lately, however, the subject has been commercialized. Innovation, an integral part of commercialization, has led to the dilution of the original formulae. The ultimate loser is the practitioner, as yoga is a subtle science and even minor errors in its practice can cause major and irrevocable damage. It is to stem the tide of commercialization, to dispel the popular myths about yoga and to prevent the damage caused by wrong practices that Yogi Ashwini has plunged into an awareness-building campaign on yoga-through free workshops, writing signed articles, talks and books. Yogi Ashwini is a strict adherent of the Patangali Yoga Sutras and the Guru-Shishya Parampara. The Sutras, written by Sage Patanjali, the fountainhead of yoga, are an exhaustive treatise on the subject. He advocated the practice of Ashtanga (eightlimbed) Yoga in its totality for the right results, namely, yama, niyam, asan, pranayam, pratyahaar, dharna, dhyan and samadhi. Based on the principle that vikriti or disease is nothing but a deviation from prakriti or nature, the Kriya brings the practitioner into santulan or a state of balance. Benefits of Sanatan Kriya •Lower breath and heart rate • Positive thinking • De-stressing • Mental peace and focus • Emotional de-congestion • Stillness of mind and body • Acceptance levels go up • Promotes generosity, friendliness, loving, caring and sharing • Increase in problem-solving capacity • Increase in physical and mental capacity • Cheerfulness • Alertness • Balance • It keeps the effects of age at bay • Strength and flexibility • Youth, beauty and glow are small change for those practicing the Kriya • Activation of the higher centers of the brain that helps you access the higher realms/subtler dimensions of human existence, the real purpose of yoga. SRIMAD SAI RAJA RAJESHWARI Srimad Sai Raja Rajeshwari (fondly addressed as Amma) is one of the two forms of the divine Shiva/Shakti incarnation in this Kali Yuga. The first was the incarnation of Sri Sathya Sai Baba who determined the advent of his consort in Mount Kailash who took birth in 1947, twenty one years after his own birth in 1926 in the form of Srimad Sai Raja Rajeshwari. In accordance with a solemn promise that Sathya Sai made to her when she was eighteen years of age, Bhagawan ensured that she was insulated from the ugly beyond. In 1997, when Amma attained the age of fifty, Sathya Sai commanded Amma to announce her mission and her incarnation to the world. The Srimad Sai Raja Rajeshwari Sat Charita, (a work blessed by Baba) contains the following dedication by Amma to Her Lord: “How can I dedicate anything when the word „I‟ does not exist within me? When you the Nirakara, Nirguna Parabrahma, have taken the Shiva/Shakti avatar and descended to earth with the name of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, is it not imperative that Srimad Sai Raja Rajeshwari, who is the ardhangini of Shiva also follow her lord to the earth? The Vedas have also not been able to describe or elaborate the inseparable principle of Shiva and Shakti. Only a handful of people are able to identify and recognize the two forms of the paratpara principle. When avatars take human form, They themselves reveal to the world Their identities for the benefit of humanity.” “At the age of fourteen, you proclaimed to the world that you were an avatar but I proclaimed my avatar on my fiftieth birthday as per your commands. At that time, you questioned me: „How do you introduce yourself?‟ to which I answered, „My introduction is with you but not without you. Again you queried, to which I answered, „My introduction is with you but not without you.‟ For the third time you repeated the same question, to which I replied, „You are my introduction.‟ When this is so, what do I possess to dedicate to You?‟” “May the rejuvenation of Sanatana Dharma on earth and the associated benevolent deeds for which your avatar has dawned continue unceasingly without any hindrances. May the whole universe become „Saimaya‟, one with and full of Sai. May the divine flame of love that you have kindled glow brighter throughout the universe and may the fragrance of spirituality spread everywhere.”
