Again...please be
patient. Help us keep
all of our children
safe.
We want your child to feel safe. If you need to walk them to class for a few days, we understand.
Please park in the parking lot and wait for a staff member to direct you across the street. It is our
hope to make a connection and build a relationship with your child quickly so your child is ready to
go to class on their own by the Tuesday after Labor Day, September 6th. If you feel you need to
continue to walk your child to class after Labor Day, please meet with your child’s facilitator to see
how we can improve our relationship so they feel safe to come in with our staff’s assistance. We
want your child to know they are part of our school family.
You will need to come inside, sign in and get a pass from the front office.
*When you sign in, you will receive a pass
to the location you are visiting. You are
allowed access to only those areas. If you
visit a place outside of the area, our staff
will direct you to the front office for a
proper access pass. You will also need
your driver's license. Our HALL PASS
software will scan your background
information for safety when you enter.
*Please know this is for the safety of our
learners. Thank you in advance for your
cooperation.
We want and need our parents to volunteer at Riverwalk. If you are able to invest time with our
facilitators and learners, you will need to attend a volunteer orientation. We will need to collect
forms from you in order to host the orientation. We have scheduled the first meetings for Monday,
August 29th at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday, August 31st at 9:00 a.m.
We need our returning volunteers and PTO to help us in the first couple weeks until we are able
to meet with new volunteers.
Chauntel Ingalls is at a table and has the forms for you to fill out. Additional forms will be sent
home in Thursday folders on August 18th.
*Each family will have an assigned number for pick-up.
*Each child in the family will have the same assigned number.
The number is assigned to the youngest learner. (A
Kindergartner and 2nd grader’s number is assigned through
Kindergarten.)
*Please see the ladies at the car tag table to pick up yours
tonight.
*Your number must be displayed as you enter the property for
pick-up.
*If you do not have your tag, please park and come inside. You
will need to show photo ID to the front desk to have your child
sent to the office for dismissal. We will not be able to call
children out until the dismissal line is mostly cleared to
minimize confusion. Please be patient as we are trying to run
the dismissal process as smoothly as possible.
*We are providing 2 free of charge. If you lose them, we
suggest a $2.00 donation to cover additional expenses.
*Additional tags can be purchased in the front office.
*For the first 2 weeks, we suggest parents who have children
in ONLY k-2, please come at 3:00. Parents who have children
in 3-7 please come at 3:20. This will help us create a smooth
process as our children and families become accustomed to
our procedure.
PLEASE NOTE:
Unless there is an extreme emergency, children will not be
able to be signed out early after 2:30. Please help us in this
matter as we are trying to prepare a smooth dismissal each
day. If your child has a doctor appointment and needs to leave
early, please pick them up prior to 2:30.
Riverwalk is investing in a playground for the learners. Our goal is to have this unit installed as
soon as possible. We will host a Booster-Thon the first 2 weeks of school to help offset the
cost.We feel it is extremely important to have this unit installed as quickly as possible and your
help is appreciated. Information will come home next week with directions on how your children
can participate.
You will start seeing information on the website and on Facebook this week.
We hope the event will be fun and exciting. The children will have friendly competitions and daily
huddles to engage them in the process. Please visit the information table for an event timeline.
Please help us make this a successful event for the purchase of our playground equipment.
This year, all of our middle school students will be able to experience all of the electives.
This is a benefit of a small school and a tight schedule. So, don’t worry about signing up for
certain classes until next year. Next school year, we will offer year long courses as they
children will be receiving high school credit for several classes.
If you have any questions, please see Cora Stepp.
Hot lunch is served
Monday -Thursday
and must be ordered
in advance and
weekly.
Orders must be
received by noon on
Thursday each week.
We offer a lunch
from a variety of
vendors.
You will receive a
link to place your
online orders.
Hot lunch begins
August 21st.
Orders must be in by
Thursday August
18th at noon for the
following week.
We are so thankful for the facility to celebrate our learners in special occasions. The two-top high
tables at the rear of the room are for celebrations. If your child is there. Something special is
happening!
If you wish to come celebrate your child’s birthday with JUST your child, then you may bring whatever
you wish and sit at these tables with only your child.
If you wish to bring a treat for the whole class, you may bring it and sit with your child at their class’s
table. All treats shared with the class must be store bought.
Our learners will be required to have a “class”
shirt for field trips and other group events.
The price is: $10.00 for first one, 8.00 each
additional. The sizes available are: Youth
sizes; S, M, L & XL Adult sizes; S, M, L, XL
You do not pick the colors, the colors are
picked automatically and are the same color
as the grade-level classrooms.
Some t-shirts can be purchased at the
orientation sessions and they can be ordered
online. You will be notified once the link is up
to place your order.
If you need financial assistance or to defer
payment, contact Chauntel Ingalls at
[email protected]
Weekly work and communication will come home each Thursday.
Data Notebooks will begin coming home after the initial MAP testing is complete.
Individual Learning Plans will be within the data notebook
Grade level sites are updated weekly
Parent Portal is available for you to see our child’s grades at any time.
Make sure we have the correct email and phone number to reach you.
When we have important time sensitive information, we will make all efforts to reach
you through email, text messages and phone tree.
We will also post important announcements on the website and on social media.
School will dismiss at 12:30 this Monday as
the first day is a half day.
The purpose is to insure we have the
proper information for dismissal.
Dismissing early allows additional time for
us to spend after school with children if
there is a dismissal challenge we need to
address.
The Iwin Club will accept children early the
first day. Our staff will also assist them in
their process.
Additional time added to this portion is very
important. We hope to resolve all
challenges the first afternoon. Again, your
patience is appreciated.
If you are unable to pick up your child by 3:30 (12:50 on Friday), please call the front
office.
If you are registered with IWin, we will send your child to IWin. There will be a
$15.00 drop in fee.
We have limited staff available after school. At 3:30 (12:50 on Friday), we will begin
trying to contact those on the emergency contact list.
At 3:45 (1:00 on Friday) , if we are unable to connect with you or an emergency
contact, we will call either local authorities to come pick up your child.
*Remember….If we have not heard from you, we are just as concerned for your
safety as we are that your child is left here at school. If there is something wrong,
we may be the only person reporting that you are experiencing a challenge. A police
phone call is as much for your safety as it is for the child.
