Instructions to install MicroStrategy Office
Introduction
This document provides step by step instructions to install the MicroStrategy Office
component that will allow users to run MicroStrategy reports directly from Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft Word and/or Microsoft Power Point.
The MicroStrategy Office component will appear as a toolbar or add-in within the
Microsoft Office products.
The version of MicroStrategy Office being installed is 9.0.2 and is compatible with
Microsoft Office versions 2002 SP3 and newer running on Windows XP or newer. For a
complete list of the versions supported, see Appendix A: Installation Requirements and
Supported Configurations.
MicroStrategy Office requires the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 SP1 or later.

Intended Audience
This document is intended for American University users of BI that have a need to run
special reports to perform aided forecasting and have been directed by IT to install the
MicroStrategy Office component.
Step by Step Instructions
1. Using your internet browser, go to the BI Reporting site at
https://biweb.american.edu/MicroStrategy/asp/Main.aspx.
2. Click on the “Install MicroStrategy Office” link in the top right corner of the page.
3. The Install MicroStrategy Office page will open. Click on the Install button to
download the setup package.
4. When prompted, click on the Run button to execute the setup package.
5. After downloading, the setup package will execute. If prompted, click on the Run
button to allow the package to execute.
6. When prompted, select English as the Setup Language and click the OK button.
7. The MicroStrategy Office Setup Wizard will appear. Click on the Next button.
8. The License Agreement screen will appear. Select the option to “Accept the
terms of the license agreement” and click on the Next button.
9. The MicroStrategy Office Path screen will appear. Accept the default and click
on the Next button.
10. The MicroStrategy Office URL Setting screen will appear. In the box provided
type:


For QA: https://biweb-qa.american.edu/MicroStrategyWS/MSTRWS.asmx
11. The MicroStrategy Office Configuration screen will appear. Leave all the boxes
checked (default). Click on the Next button.
12. The Select Program Folder screen will appear. Accept the default and click the
Next button.
13. The Start Copying Files screen will appear. Click on the Install button.
14. After the wizard is done copying files, a dialog asking if you want to see the
ReadMe file will appear. Click on the No button.
15. The Wizard Complete screen will appear. Select the option “Yes, I want to restart
my computer now” and click on the Finish button.
16. After rebooting, MicroStrategy Office will be installed and ready to use.
