measurement of a maximum of 8 alphanumeric characters.
Flow rate can be represented as a unit of measurement:
• /min (units of measure per minute)
• /hour (units of measure per hour)
and the temperature in °C or °F.
Dual pulse security
This feature provides continuous monitoring and error
indicating alarm of pulses transmission according OIML R117
and ISO 6551 Level B, API Chapter 5.5 Level B.
Encoder CanBus
Vega II allows to be linked with the ISOIL EM6422 encoders
via protected CanBus protocol in order to improve the
immunity performance, safety from manumission and
diagnosis functions.
Temperature compensation (optional)
The temperature compensation provides with the ability to
compensate for variance in temperature from a base
temperature Tb (typically at 15°C and 20°C).
The product temperature is measured by a Pt100 probe
connected with VEGA II.
VEGA II calculates the net volume of:
using
the
following
products
• Petrochemical
configurable API tables: 6A, 6B, 6C, 24A, 24B, 54, 54A,
54B, 54D, 60A, 60B, 60D and BRAZIL table.
• Ethanol product using the following tables: OIML R22,
NBR5992.
• Biofuels via "PTB table" for thermal compensation of
mixtures of mineral and bio fuels.
The compensation can also be carried out using the alpha
cubic expansion coefficient.
Density acquisition by 4-20mA input
VEGA II can acquire density via a 4-20mA input. It’s possible
to select between two types of data represented in input:
density at Tb (base temperature) and density at Tamb
(ambient temperature). VEGA II, during the delivery, makes
the calculation of product’s average density.
Mass calculation
VEGA II can calculate the mass by multiply the in-line
environment density with volume at environment
temperature or by multiply the density at base temperature
with the volume at base temperature. Gravitational force
correction can be applied using a fixed factor that can be
parameterised, or table 56.
Meter calibration
VEGA II allows the following settings for each of up to three
products:
• k-factor (impulses/unit of measurement, meter
characteristic factor)
• meter factor (“average” setting factor)
• the correction curve (up to 10 pairs of flow
rate/correction values to correct error throughout flow
rate range).

Loading operations:
VEGA II, in local mode, manages the loading process
according to the configuration of the functions enabled,
carrying out the following operations:
• when more than one, mixture selection via keyboard or
external selector
• controlling interlocks, signals positioning.
• setting preset from keyboard.
• starting delivery from keyboard or external button.
• opening selector, block and vapour recovery valves,
starting pump and preset valves according to times
specified by appropriate parameters.
• enabling additive system
• blending ratio control: VEGA II keeps checking the flow
rates and the delivered quantities, to keep the blending
ratio and the flow rates ratio within the set tolerances,
adapting the total flow to the required high and low flow
preset delivery values for that loading arm. VEGA II tries to
correct a possible mistake, according to the system
response time, configurable on the device through a
dedicated parameter. The load is stopped thresholds are
exceeded (minimum or maximum flow rate, blending ratio
tolerance).
• end of batch control, in such a way to allow an accurate
control of the delivered quantity, as preset
• line wash handling: when enabled, one of the two valves
closure is performed in advance according to a set
quantity.
• closes the valves (section valves, blocking valves, and
vapour recovery valves), stops the pump according the
timing set parameters.
• at the end of the batch the system informs whether the
delivery has been made according to the set blending
ratio.
• summarising data and printing delivery reports.
In remote mode VEGA II operates as an intelligent terminal
controlled by a TAS (Terminal Automation System); once
initialised it continues working independently controlling the
loading process by means of the devices it is connected to.
The TAS controls functions such as:
• operator recognition by means of “pin-code” or badge
entered and enabling loading.
• starting
loading
selecting
methods
(automatic,
semiautomatic..), resetting quantity and updating density.
Selection between three recipes locally configured or
setting of percentages of free recipes.
• Selection between three recipes locally configured or
setting of percentages of free recipes.
• starting and stopping delivery.
• enabling and disabling meter.
• resetting alarm.
• acquiring data (status).
• summarising partial or total data.
• downloading delivery data.
Remote control can be achieved by means of serial
dialogue with proprietary protocol or Mod-Bus RTU protocol.
Valves
VEGA II can operate with the following types of valve:
• Two stages
Two stages valve deliver the preset quantity by
controlling two solenoid valves (one for LF and one for
HF). Flow rate values must be regulated beforehand,
mechanically adjusting valves. VEGA II manages the
initial low flow phase, the high flow phase and final low
flow phase, in such a way as to avoid “splash”
phenomena and foam from forming. The duration of
these phases can be configured with the appropriate
parameters. This valve allows you to use the automatic
final adjustment function: if necessary, to obtain the
exact quantity requested, preset is concluded with a
sequence of short valve openings until the desired value
is reached.
•
•
Digital valve (Multistep)
This valve allows regulating the flow rate during the
delivery besides to managing initial and final low flow
phases. Flow rate is adjusted to a fixed value by driving
two solenoid valves (one NO and one NC) in such a way
as to regulate the position of the valve membrane.
With this type of valve VEGA II can manage one default
high flow rate and two separate lower high-flow rates,
triggered by signals from two digital inputs. As alternatives
the high flow-rate can be set by serial line message.
Analog valve (4-20mA)
Vega II is able to drive any valve with suitable hydraulic
characteristics by the 4-20mA signal. The delivery phases
and flow rate values are managed as for the digital
valve.
Configuring digital inputs and outputs
The firmware is designed to allow maximum flexibility in
adapting to devices and field signals.
For example the various VEGA II at a loading terminal can be
configured for loading bays with different characteristics and
input/output signals.
All digital inputs (up to 32) can be programmed as loading
interlock or signal linked to a specific function.
If configured as interlock you can select:
• logic level (ok if closed, ok if open)
• action (functions to be enabled with possible configurable
D/O control)
• label (signal meaning, displayed in full) including:
(Interlock number, grounding, loading arm, manual valve,
vapour recovery valve, vapour recovery valve, overfilling,
tank-truck presence, interlocks from badge reader, dead
man, dirty filter, emergency, bay locked, remote
emergency, vapour recovery, tank level).
Other three labels can be configured: for each custom
interlock, 4 lines of 15 characters are available.
Whilst every input configured as a signal can be associated
with a fixed function; you can select type of signal, including:
(General signal, Remote start, remote stop, local/remote
selector, overfilling bypass, open vapour recovery micro
valve, closed vapour recovery micro valve, open block micro
valve, closed block micro valve, open selecting micro valve,
closed selecting micro valve, mixture 1/2/3 selector, Start/Stop
ON-OFF, additive system unit A/B/C/D/E/F not ready, additive
pump signal, flow reduction 1/2, Gas extractor level (STOP),
Gas extractor level (LF)).
Slave function indications can be associated with each
digital output (up to 32, of which 16 power and 16 transistor):
(not used, BF-NA-AC, AF-NC, product 1/2/3 pump, mixture
1/2/3 selector, Alarm, block valve, vapour recovery, vapour
recovery, impulse reset, additive system unit 1/2 enable,
cleaning line, additive selection 1/2/3/4 additive selection,
preset active, status leak alarm)
The size impulses represent (volume, compensated volume,
mass) and a multiplication factor can be configured for each
pulse output (up to 4).

In this case, VEGA II is able to:
o establish if additives are required or not,
o select the additive and the percentage,
o receive the quantity injected by FlexiMix,
o receive an alarm, to take diagnostic checks to
decide if the delivery should be continued or not.
• by connecting to “intelligent” additive devices,
generally equipped with electronics that receive
impulses representing the quantity and control a
hydraulic circuit with a dosing valve, piston or pump, to
supply quantities according to desired percentages.
VEGA II allows you to control two separate devices with
a maximum of four additives each using the following
digital signals:
o n° 2 D/O to select the device
o n° 4 D/O to select the additive
o n° 2 D/I to acquire alarms
