1. Just Add Wings
The technical challenges of getting a car into the air are huge, but progress is being made. NASA
engineers are developing an GPS flying program to manage aerial traffic, while the EU is investing
$6.2 million to develop the myCopter, the next step in personal air transport. It seems the dream is
about to take off.
2. Vertical Takeoff
For decades people have been hoping for a personal air vehicle that lifts off and whizzes them to
their office, shop or holiday resort. Personal air vehicles are already in demand for weekend
enthusiasts, as well as police departments, search and rescue crews and farmers. Two major
aerospace companies are in a race to make a vertical take-off vehicle for the military. Could these
be the designs for personal flying cars of the future?
