The Huber Heights Board of Education affirms the action of its designee with respect to appeals of
student suspensions heard during the past month. The names of affected students are available in
the Superintendent's office.

VII. The ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS ADOPTION OF THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION –
Susan M. Gunnell, Superintendent
WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the Huber Heights City School District engaged the Ohio
School Boards Association to conduct a thorough search of documents for existing policy,
regulations and management information and to provide the Board a manual containing a new
codification of current policies and regulations, and
WHEREAS, the search codification and manual preparation tasks have been completed and
WHEREAS, the manual has been reviewed by the Board, the Superintendent and school
Administrators and found to be current and accurate, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Huber Heights City School District Board of Education accept and
adopt the manual prepared as the Policy Manual of the Huber Heights City School District. As of
this date, May 7, 2015 this manual contains all of the policies of the Huber Heights City School
District with the understanding that all of the policies and regulations contained therein are subject
to continuing review and revision by the Board. All policies in effect prior to this date are hereby
rescinded or superseded.

1. The Administration recommends the acceptance of an “All Weather” U.S. Flag from Larry
and Master Sergeant Caroline Sussman to be flown at Studebaker.

2. Appointments – Substitute Teachers

The Administration recommends granting no more than seven days of extended time for
each high school guidance counselor for the purpose of student scheduling, record reviews,
registration and tasks approved and arranged by Administration. The days will be assigned
by the Administrator from June 1, 2015 to August 7, 2015.
The Administration recommends granting no more than three days of extended time for
junior high school guidance counselors for the purpose of student scheduling, updating
records, registration and tasks approved and arranged by Administration. The days will be
assigned by the Administrator from June 1, 2015 to August 7, 2015.
The Administration recommends granting no more than three days of extended time to
Nancy Czaja and Brian Shaw, ESL teachers, for the purpose of updating records and
assessing newly enrolled students to determine service. The days will be assigned by the
Administrator from June 1, 2015 to August 7, 2015.

3. Appointment
The Administration recommends appointing Christine Trepal as Assistant to the Treasurer
with a two-year contract beginning August 1, 2015. Salary is in accordance with the
adopted salary schedule.
4. Appointment
The Administration recommends that Christine Trepal be permitted to work up to 42 days
between May 1, 2015 and July 31, 2015 for the purpose of transitioning with current
staff. Salary will be per diem in accordance with the adopted salary schedule.

X. TREASURER APPOINTMENT – Mark Combs, President
A. WHEREAS, Ann Bernardo the current Treasurer of the Huber Heights City School District,
has resigned from her position effective June 30, 2015; and,
WHEREAS, the Huber Heights Board Of Education considered various candidates for the
position and determined that Regina Helmick is the best candidate for the position,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board of Education does hereby
employ Regina Helmick as Treasurer under the terms and conditions of the contract.
IT IS HEREBY FURTHERMORE RESOLVED that the President and the Vice-President of
the Board are directed to execute said contract on behalf of the Board of Education,
effective August 1, 2015, with a 2 year contract.
B. The Board of Education recommends that Regina Helmick be permitted to begin work on
July 1, 2015 through July 31, 2015. Salary will be prorated in accordance with the adopted
salary schedule.
XI. OHIO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION – Susan M. Gunnell, Superintendent
The Administration recommends adoption of a resolution authorizing continued membership in the
Ohio High School Athletic Association for the 2015-2016 school year.
WHEREAS, Huber Heights City Schools of 5954 Longford Road, Huber Heights, Montgomery
County, Ohio has satisfied all the requirements for membership in the Ohio High School Athletic
Association, a voluntary not for profit association; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Education/Governing Board and its Administration desire for the schools
with one or more grades at the 7-12 grade level under their jurisdiction to be voluntary members of
the OHSAA;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION/GOVERNING BOARD
that the Junior High School and High School shall be members of the OHSAA and that in doing so,
the Constitution and Bylaws of the OHSAA are hereby adopted by this Board as and for its own
minimum student-athlete eligibility requirements. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Board does
reserve the right to raise the student-athlete eligibility standards as the Board deems appropriate for
the schools and students under its jurisdiction; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the schools under this Board’s jurisdiction agree to conduct their
athletic programs in accordance with the Constitution, Bylaws, Regulations, Interpretations and
decisions of the OHSAA and to cooperate fully and timely with the Commissioner’s Office of the
OHSAA in all matters related to the interscholastic athletic programs of the schools. Furthermore,
the schools under this Board’s jurisdiction shall be the primary enforcers of the OHSAA
Constitution, Bylaws and Sports Regulations and the interpretations and rulings rendered by the
Commissioner’s Office. The administrative heads of these schools understand that failure to
discharge the duty of primary enforcement may result in fines, removal from tournaments,
suspension from membership and/or other such penalties as prescribed in Bylaw 11.

XII. BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM TO TRAVEL TO TENNESSEE – Susan M. Gunnell,
Superintendent
The Administration recommends that the Wayne High School Boys’ Basketball team be allowed to
participate in the Arby’s Classic Tournament to be held in Bristol, Tennessee on December 26 – 31,
2015. Participation is during winter break so no school will be missed. All cost will be covered
through a grant and/or fundraising. No cost will be incurred by the District

XIV. GRANTING OF DIPLOMAS – Susan M. Gunnell, Superintendent
The Administration recommends that Wayne High School students on the following list who have
passed all portions of the proficiency test be granted the Wayne High School diploma at
ceremonies Sunday, May 24, 2015, at 6:00 P.M. at the Nutter Center, subject to the satisfactory
accomplishment of the required credits and the satisfactory completion of the required courses as
established by the Huber Heights City School District Board of Education.
