What’s been going on at Banbury Academy?
Have you got what it takes to be part of the new PTA team at Banbury Campus.
Thanks to those parents who have already volunteered their services. We will be
having our first meeting in January to begin planning in earnest the Summer Fete
which is booked for the 10th June.
Come along to Winter Wonderland
Ms Grover took four year 11 girls Abigail, Ildiko, Rhiannon and Makayla to a
Cherwell Democracy challenge debate competition on 25th November organised
by Victoria Prentis. They competed against
other schools in a parliamentary style
debate. It was tough competition and the
girls did great competing against older
students. They put questions to Victoria
Prentis and councillors and did a great job
representing the school.
A message from Ms Thomas
I went down to Harriers this Monday and spent time with the very young
children. In Reception I read them a story about a very hungry caterpillar
and then in Year 1 spent time looking at shapes with some very
enthusiastic learners. Year 3 were working very hard on their SPAG test.
Thank you to Mr Pearson and his team for inviting me down. Next week
I am going to spend time with the children at Dashwood.

Year 10 embrace different cultures
Year 10 went on a trip to Birmingham. During the day students visited
several locations across Birmingham. They all went to the German Christmas Market. Students then spilt off to experience other delights. One group
discovered the taste of Spanish Tapas and French food. Students used
their knowledge to order their food in French and Spanish. One group went
off and visited the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the Birmingham Library. While
another went to the
Sea Life Centre and
learnt about the environment around us.

Aspirations Day– Stratford Treasure Hunt
On the 24th of November sixth formers
visited Shakespeare’s county to explore the
history and culture of Warwickshire through
a GPS treasure hunt. Although it was an
extremely chilly day we managed to
complete most of the treasure hunt. It was
great to see Shakespeare’s old, preserved and fascinating home in which
he once sat and wrote his plays. We explored local shops, took pictures
with funny yet intriguing monuments and also grabbed some cheeky coffee
throughout the day. The treasure hunt was a great opportunity for me to
display my teamwork and leadership qualities.

Safe Drive Stay Alive workshop 29th November.
Tuesday 29th November Sixth Form students visited Oxford to see Safe Drive
Stay Alive show. It was a sobering event with an emotional speech made by a
young lady who had experienced severe and lasting brain damage as a result
of unsafe driving. Thank you to all the guest speakers from the services and
those who took part. The students
were affected by the reality of unsafe driving and felt it was a sad but
worthwhile lesson to learn.
Banbury Academy School Lottery
Banbury Academy has launched a lottery - this lottery has been set up specifically to
raise money and make a difference for our students. It's
a fantastic way to bring Parents, Carers, Teachers and
the wider community together, in partnership with our
school, and at the same time give something back. We
hope to raise funds that can support and enrich the
education of our students - we aim to provide extra
resources for the students, improve the school environment as well as run extra curricular activities such as
music, art and sport.
