As I sit here writing this article, I am wondering how everyone is doing? We are doing well. Getting ready to paint the outside of the Daxx plays competitive soccer and this is the first tournament of the summer. After the tournament, we will go to Homer to go fishing for both salmon and halibut. Sure hope we catch a lot of fish. Please see Directors’ Corner on page 2 daughter's house. Got everything papered yesterday so we could start tomorrow. Mother Nature said, “No way,” so it has rained most of the day. I feel like were living in a dungeon as there is a little light coming in, but it's the color of blue from the painter's tape. We have several items from Alaska for the silent auction. Have you all got your items ready? Please hold onto your items until we return home by the end of June, and then we will pick them up from you. Since our May gathering when Bill Weiss asked the question about becoming a Chapter Officer, have you thought about it? It is no joke; Bob and I are really moving to Missouri. Next Chapter Meeting – July 14, 2017 GWRRA Colorado Chapter E – June 2017 Page 4 Christine’s Commentary By Christine Howland, Membership Enhancement Coordinator Don’t you just love Summer? The first day of summer this year is Wednesday, June 21. This officially starts summer solstice. I was reading about summer solstice and it means when the Earth’s axis tilts closure to the “star” it orbits (aka the Sun). This causes the Sun to be at its highest position in the sky. Why do I mention this? Because that means more motorcycle riding for us! Yippee!!!! Last month, we had a wonderful day at Maury & Wanda Stadel’s home for maintenance day. My bike is all ready for rolling on the pavement. Then, the hail storm from Zeus happened. My bike didn’t fare well. It was parked in the driveway when the storm assaulted Arvada, Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, and Denver. I have busted taillights, mirror case, front fender, slashed cover, and a seat that looks like my Ex was getting revenge with a knife. I am getting estimates for the damage now, but in the meantime, its riding season! It is amazing what duct tape can do. Sunday, June 4, I hosted the 4th Annual Women’s Motorcycle Ride. I started doing this annual ride because I noticed there were several women motorcycle riders in GWRRA. We had a great turn out the first year. Isn’t this what being a member of GWRRA is all about? Group riding? But I would like to stretch that to say, we are more than members, we are friends too. We can do much more than rides. such as charity events, volunteering, participate in parades, and getting together for a movie or a sporting event. I would love to hear your thoughts on what Chapter E and GWRRA means to you. I would also love to hear any ideas you may have for social events or gatherings. Chapter E is 68 friends strong. I have talked to most of you at one time or another over the last few years. I know we are all very busy – is there such a thing called retirement? I hope you have put on your calendar Chapter E’s fundraiser event on July 8th. That is right around the corner. We are going to have plenty of food, and the ride/route Bill Weiss has been planning is going to be great. It would be very special to meet everyone in Chapter E. And, what a better time to do this than at the Chapter’s fundraiser? Let’s get those wheels rollin’!!! However, they have a park on the south side of Colorado Springs picked out for their fundraiser. After the meeting, Chapter E members were asked to stay. A discussion was held about the fact that the Chapter is going to need new Directors by the end of the year. Directors Bob & Jan The talk centered around upcoming Region and District Rallies. Talk also came up about our Chapter fundraiser on Saturday, July 8th, more details to follow. A couple of Chapters are going to Bishop’s Castle. The one after this newsletter is Chapter J’s on June 4. Wills will be leaving and moving to Missouri to be with family.
