Carla is one of the two librarians at
the New Gloucester Public Library.
She has not been here as long as Sue,
31 years, but is a vital
part of the library. I sat
down with Carla to find
out a little more about
her.
Carla: Being part of the community.
JT: What is your favorite job in the
library?
Carla: Being surrounded
by nice people, books,
and information.

4H, also called
Science Night at the
Library, happens at
the New Gloucester
Public Library the first
Wednesday of every
month during the
school year. In 4H
you work with…
Science. Projects in
the past have
included: tie-dye tshirts; making slime;
building balloon cars;
and lots of other
things. 4H is a lot of
fun and at least semieducational. If you
are interested in
joining 4H this fall
please let Sue know.

Mad Science
presentation after the
play.
Reader Advisory
Have you ever wondered how the
library gets its books?
One of the ways it is done is the
Readers Advisory Group. The
Good Readers Polar Bears is the
Readers Advisory Group for kids
and young adults. They meet
every other month and say what
books they think would be good
for the Library. The Friends of
the Library have kindly given the
group money to buy the
suggested books. Many of these
books can now be found on the
shelves.
If you are not part of a Reader’s
Advisory Group, but have a book
you think the library should get,
don’t wait! Tell a librarian today!
The librarians are always
looking for new books and want
your help.
Speaking of helping the library,
the library is always looking for
volunteers. If you are interested
sign up with Sue and Carla
today.
