USING SCHOOL FONT COLLECTION
To select a font, choose its name from the Font menu of the program you are
using. You may find that large sizes are easiest to read, such as sizes 18, 24,
36, and 48. Lists of School Font Collection’s special characters appear on
the next two pages.
Note to Windows Users
To type one of the special characters, hold down the Alt key while typing its
four-digit number on the numeric keypad on the right side of your keyboard.
(The special math characters are in all the fonts except the three script fonts.)
If you are using a keyboard which does not have a numeric keypad, you can
use the Character Map accessory in the Accessories window to select the
character you want and paste it in your document (see below).
Using Character Map (if your keyboard has no numeric keypad)
1. In the Accessories window, double-click Character Map.
2. In the Character Map window, choose the font name, such as SchoolText,
from the Fonts list.
3. The characters displayed in the boxes indicate the characters available in
the font. For a bigger view, click on the character.
4. Double-click on the character or characters you want. They’ll appear in the
box labeled “Characters to Copy.”
5. When all the characters you want to copy appear in the “Characters to
Copy” box, click Copy.
6. Open the document in which you want to insert the characters and click
where you want to insert. Choose Paste from the Edit menu. (To switch
between Character Map and other programs, press Alt-Tab together.)
7. After you paste the text, you probably will need to select it and choose the
correct font name from the Font menu.
To get an empty box, double-click the fourth character below “L.” To put a
box around a number, double-click the box two spaces to the left of the
triangle, then double-click the number you want inside.
