First grade will start trotting at 10:30 on the east playground. Be sure to collect your pledges to help raise money for our school. Parents are welcome, but please no siblings per our CCS policy. Math Listening & Learning Social Studies Over the next week, we will be finishing unit 3 with a focus on the core concept of addition and subtraction strategies. Students will practice mastering multiple strategies including: Find a double Find a related fact Draw a picture Make a number line Find a near double Make 10 to add Explain addition strategies We will be continuing our unit on Early American Civilizations. The unit includes a study of the Maya, Aztec, and Inca civilizations, exposing students to the gradual development of cities. Students will examine the fundamental features of the Maya, Aztec, and Inca, including farming, the establishment of cities and government, as well as religion. In Social Studies we will be beginning our unit on Early American Civilizations. Please continue to practice Mad Dog math facts regularly. Students will learn about… The Ice Age Hunting to Farming Maya, Inca, and Aztec Civilizations The Conquistadors Topics of focus for the week: The Maya: The First Festival of the First Star. The Aztec: The Legend of the Eagle and the Serpent. The Floating Gardens of Xochimilco. HOMEWORK This month from Nov. 4th– Nov.18th we will not have our usual homework menu. Instead we will have the “Disguise your Turkey Project,” which will be due on Friday, November 18th. CCS Kids Care Club is partnering with the Mana House this November to collect items for American Veterans. We will be collecting food, toiletries, and cleaning supplies for Veterans.
