The delegates heard speeches from the girls who had been endorsed by their respective counties. The positions of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, State Auditor, State Treasurer, Secretary of State, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Associate Supreme Court Justices, and Court of Appeals Judges, were the positions available for endorsement. All the positions, except for Associate Court Justices and Court of Appeals, had two candidates endorsed by each party. Eight Associate Justices and five Appeals Court Judges were also endorsed. It is a one-time opportunity available only to Buckeye Girls State delegates in the current year to experience a week, June 25-29, 2001, at the Patrol Academy in Columbus, receiving some of the same training as the Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper. At Junior Cadet Week you will have both structured and recreational physical training. You will learn First Aid, Unarmed self-defense, Radar training, familiarization with weapons, use of videotape and aircraft in law enforcement and alcohol impairment countermeasures.
