THANK YOU
TIMES
COLONIST
READERS
In my final week as
VRBA President, I want
to offer a special thank
you to T-C readers for
reading these weekly
columns on housing.

and this must change.

mostly politically driven
Also, reasonable energy
efficiency has been
accomplished through
programs like Built
Green.
However, affordability
continues to decline, in
large part, due to
regulatory policies
offering minimal
benefit.
For example, energy
efficiency is now more
about politics, than
effectiveness.
There is a lack of
intellectual rigor in the
data supporting more
energy efficiency in new
homes.
We must have answers
to key questions:
• What are we
measuring? (eg What
is defined as an
average home?)
Otherwise, the result will
be declining affordability
for young families.
Continued housing
insights will be offered
by my successor Terry
Johal, President-Elect.
I would like to offer a
reminder that we are
very fortunate to write
opinion columns and
initiate democratic
change in Canada. Please
take a moment this
Friday to remember
those that sacrificed to
make it possible.
Thank you for your
support!
