Our financial and accounting service works with not for profits to help them achieve financial sustainability through the provision of effective financial management and reporting that supports long term planning and decision making. We provide an outsourced finance function via our Virtual Finance Team, giving not for profits assurance that their finances are being effectively managed and allowing them to focus on achieving their social objectives. CBB has a strategic objective to grow our consulting services in order that we may reach and support a higher number of not for profits to build financial sustainability and achieve their social objectives. Position purpose Our financial and accounting service provides social enterprises and not for profits with access to high quality, contemporary and cost effective financial management services. The Finance Trainee will work as part of our Virtual Finance Team and will be responsible for providing fee for service financial administration and accounting support to a number of CBB clients. The role provides an opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain broad experience working with a range of clients across different aspects of financial administration and management. Day to day responsibilities will focus on data entry, payroll and bookkeeping tasks, with the opportunity to experience more complex functions such as presentation of financial reports, compliance and acquittals. The role includes client management. Reporting/working relationships The Finance Trainee reports to the Senior Finance Consultant and works closely with peers and colleagues within Consulting and Business Services. This position liaises with external clients and with relationship managers within other areas of CBB. Contract term This is an initial 24 month contract and is offered as 0.8 or full time. Renewal is dependent on CBB securing sufficient repeat or new client service contracts. 1 Essential position results The key functions of the Finance Trainee are: Delivery and project management of finance and accounting services, including: o Project management of client activity, including managing customer service, quality, scope and costs o Managing financial transactions for clients o Data entry, reconciliations and bookkeeping for clients o Client payroll administration, including assisting clients on related issues such as superannuation, tax and salary packaging; and PAYG statements o Preparing pre-audit financial statements and supporting client organisations to prepare for audit o Mentoring of staff within client organisations o Any other finance projects as required by clients and/or CBB o o o o The trainee will also gain experience working in the following areas, with the support of a mentor Managing ledgers and monthly reports Preparing and submitting BAS statements, funding acquittals, FBT and other returns required by regulators and funders Preparing budgets and variance reports and analysis for client organisations Presenting financial reports to client organisations and assisting clients in interpreting reports Client relationship management, including but not limited to: o Proactive communication with client organisations, and timely resolution of queries o Ongoing relationship management Contributing to the continuous improvement of services to meet client needs, including, o Regular review of client requirements to inform changes to our service offering o Obtaining client feedback in order to support analysis of our added value and impact Administration and management o Managing client work within budgets to ensure CBB profitability o Supporting a positive and productive team environment, including engagement in team and corporate activities o Record keeping to support project management, quality improvement and billing and invoicing o Preparing monthly invoicing 2 Key performance indicators Detailed key performance indicators will be agreed on an annual basis, and will cover, as a minimum: Managing client work in order to achieve profitability WHS Maintains healthy and safe workplace practices by ensuring the work area is free from hazards, office equipment is maintained in a safe working order and adhering to occupational health and safety policies and procedures. Special conditions Full time – 38 hours per week or 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week) Must have own vehicle and a current driver’s licence Vehicle cost reimbursement will be provided Must be prepared to work outside normal business hours (time off in lieu is available) This role includes a requirement to work at clients’ premises, including regular travel to remote areas. The postholder must be prepared to undertake interstate and intrastate travel, including to rural and remote locations Appointee will be required to provide satisfactory police check prior to final confirmation of appointment.
