Upcoming Christmas Show!!
The Quiltmaker’s Gift
Auditions October 21 and 22 at 7:00 pm
The Quiltmaker’s Gift is a delightful musical based on the best-selling book. This will
be the most meaningful story of the holiday
season!
Performance dates are Dec. 13, 14, 19, 20,
and 21 at 7:30 pm, and matinees on Dec.
14, 15, and 21 at 2:00 pm.
We will be looking to fill the roles of:
The child: 8-12 years of age (male or female) curious, imaginative, and full of ques
-tions!
The Old Man: He appears to be in his 60s,
He is warm and gentle, and speaks as if
everything in life is a magical gift. He is
confident and enthusiastic.
The Quiltmaker: Appears to be timeless in
age, silver-haired. She has an air of mystery
about her. She is earthy and has a magical
connection with the forces of nature.
The Chorus King: Is about 45-50 years of age.
He is lonely and sad, greedy and self-centered.
The soldiers: 2 sopranos, 2 altos, 2 tenors, and
2 basses. They sing and dance (simple tunes
and simple steps) and play townspeople/royal
subjects as needed.
The Bear: Appears to be big enough to eat a
horse! He sings and dances, and lives in a cave
with his cub!
The Cub: What can we say? CUTE, curious,
and loves to climb. The cub (male or female)
will also dance.
A mysterious old woman lives in the misty
mountains, making beautiful quilts for the poor.
Meanwhile, the greedy king is desperate to find
happiness by declaring that he will celebrate
two birthdays a year! He assumes that one of
the many presents he has demanded from his
subjects may fulfill this search. When he sees
one of the beautiful quilts being given to a
homeless person, he demands she make one for
him! When the old woman
refuses to give the king a
quilt, he forces her into
dangerous situations. You
may see her get eaten by a
bear, or drown in the rising
tide of a great lake. The
king and his obedient soldiers join her on a
whimsical journey of self-discovery which at
times is mystical, hilarious, gently provocative and touching. This is an intimate musical
which has delighted parents and children
alike. It is a warm fable that will leave all of
us filled with the true meaning of giving.
Consider auditioning for this colorful musical.
At the Riverside Playhouse Oct. 21 and 22, at
7:00 pm. We can also audition by appointment for actors unable to attend these dates.

Each year we elect new officers. This is
your perfect time to join MTW and be a
part of making the magic happen. There is
a board member meeting each month
where we discuss the upcoming plays and/
or musicals, and the running and maintenance of the Riverside Playhouse. We help
each production with any area that needs
to be filled. You can contact any board
member for more information on how to
apply for a position on the board. Come
and join us. We are looking for anyone
who wants to make a difference in their local community theater.
August BBQ
We had a great turnout for our Annual
BBQ. We really appreciated all of the wonderful people that came to celebrate our
organization.
Around 100 people came to the meeting
and had a wonderful dinner. Everyone was
given a treat by watching a preview of the
productions we have coming up.
If you are a member of Music Theatre of
Wenatchee, you will get to attend the 2 annual meetings, this newsletter 4 times a
year, and the ability to purchase Apple
Blossom Musical tickets before the general
public. See the back page of this newsletter
for more information.

will be held on
January 6, 7 & 8,
2014 at the Riverside Playhouse.

directing team John Mausser and Tiffany
Mausser are thrilled to bring this unique
and beautiful musical to life and are
looking for a large cast to fill the Riverside Playhouse with Stephen Schwartz’s
stunning music. Schwartz is also known
for composing the music for Godspell,
Pippin, and the smash hit Wicked.
Children of Eden is a fictionalized version of the first 8½ chapters of the Bible,
from the Father’s creation of Earth and
Adam and Eve, to the end of the Great
Flood. It is a story of families and how
they deal with each other through conflicts and disagreements and how they
resolve problems through compassion,

law Aphra and Aysha. The roles of Eve
and Mama Noah may or may not be played
by the same actress.
In addition to the featured roles, there will
be a large ensemble for singers of all ages,
including many opportunities for featured
solos. There are also featured and ensemble
roles for a few children, and opportunities
for dancers as well.
More information about auditions and
available roles will be on the Music Theatre
of Wenatchee website, www.mtow.org, in
mid-November. Auditions materials will
also be made available at that time for those
auditioners who wish to prepare a song in
advance. For any questions about auditions, please feel free to email either of the
directors:
John – [email protected]
Tiffany – [email protected]
If you love to sing and have ever thought
about being onstage in an MTW production, Children of Eden is the perfect opportunity to get involved! See you at auditions!
MTW recently was honored by
Jim Telford donating a special
work of art in memory of his wife
and an article about one of our
long time members, Corrine Telford. Corrine was one of the first
lighting designers for us. She was
a miracle worker in doing the lights
at Benton Street Theatre. The room
was small and the ceiling was low.
She did some great work in a very
small area. She was an amazing and
talented artist. We truly miss our
wonderful “First Lights Lady”!
