• there are irregular nouns like man / men, knife

• some nouns like sheep, fish, aircraft do not
normally add plural –s
• some nouns are always plural and have no
singular form: clothes (cloth is a material),
belongings, congratulations, goods, stairs,
surroundings, thanks, news
