The Southwest was originally settled by the Pueblo
Indians around 9000 BC. Modern Day Hopi and
Zuni tribes trace their ancestry back to the Pueblo
Indians. The first Europeans arrived as Jesuit missionaries and established settlements throughout
the Southwest. Today, ranchers and cowboys work
side-by-side with Indians who still practice basket
weaving and jewelry making using techniques
passed down from their ancestors. Santa admires
the workmanship of the arts and crafts of this pristine part of the United States. He’s happy to dress in
western attire, get on a horse, and bring hand-crafted gifts to the children of the Southwest.
The Northwoods are the boreal forest of
North America covering parts of Minnesota,
Maine, Montana, Wisconsin, Michigan and
Vermont. The forests are alive with whitetailed deer, moose, rabbits, wolves and other
small animals as well as rivers and glacial
lakes. Santa comes to the Northwoods to
rest, hike and play among nature’s grand and
peaceful beauty before heading back to the
North Pole. His animal friends are near his
side as he travels through the dense forest.
