Message from André
Well, 2012 is completed and JADE has celebrated 5 years in business. We had many ups and
downs in 2012, but we came out on top and the result is a great team. In 2012 JADE doubled in
size and my family doubled in size with the birth of daughter #2 – talk about growing pains! I
want to thank my team for hanging in there and helping me grow JADE Engineers.
Most importantly, I want to thank you - my clients, supporters and advisors – for the
support and faith you have shown us in the past few years. It means a lot to us and we can’t
wait to introduce you to the JADE Approach™!

Consulting Engineer Designation
André Brisson, P. Eng., ing. obtained his consulting engineer designation in March 2012. The
team would like to congratulate André on his accomplishment.

Alberta & Saskatchewan Memberships
André Brisson, P. Eng., ing. obtained his permit to practice engineering in the provinces of
Alberta in November 2012 and Saskatchewan in January 2013. He is now a member of APEGA
(www.apegga.org) and AGEGS (www.apegs.sk.ca).
We are now able to help you with projects in Ontario, Québec, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
New Team Members
 Marica Cekic, E.I.T.
Marica joined our team in May 2012 as a structural designer. She has many years of experience in
structural engineering and her knowledge has been an asset to JADE.
 Janelle Van Maren, Professional Business Assistant
Janelle joined our team in July 2012 to assist with daily operations at JADE. She holds a business
diploma and has been a valuable addition to the team.
 Paul Gyozo, Construction Engineering Technologist
Paul joined our team as a graduate from Niagara College in August 2012. He has been able to integrate
into our busy work environment effectively and is great assistance to the engineering department.
 John Branston, E.I.T.
John joined our team in September 2012 as a structural designer. He is a recent graduate of University
of Windsor and we look forward to seeing him grow as an engineer.
 Alayne Brisson, BSc.
Alayne rejoined the team in February 2013 after her one year maternity leave. Welcome back!
Feature Project - Northern Roof Truss Repair
JADE Engineers was retained to address structural
concerns after a significant crack was discovered
in a large timber truss of an 80 year old building.
JADE provided structural engineering truss
analysis to design a suitable reinforcement detail
of the timber truss. The reinforcement included
steel plates to conform to the 2006 Ontario
Building Code. The plates were bolted in place at
critical load-bearing joints to provide adequate
support of the roof load. The project was
referred by and construction performed by PK
