The above 3 fires were
started by pyrotechnics
like The Station Fire;
when will we learn
these tragedies can be
prevented?

10th Anniversary of
The Station Fire
Excitement was building at a club
in Warwick, Rhode Island as the headlining
band took the stage on a Thursday night,
10 years ago. The live show featured
Great White, a popular 80’s rock and hair
band.
During the first song, and just
moments into the show, pyrotechnics were
set off from the stage which immediately
sent flames traveling up toward the ceiling
and spread unbelievably fast due to a highly
flammable foam used to absorb sound.
Much of the fire and chaos that ensued
were caught on film as a reporter and
cameraman were tragically and ironically
there doing a story on nightclub safety.
Unfortunately, this facility did not have a
sprinkler system installed and within 3
minutes the building was engulfed inflames.
This was the 4th deadliest
nightclub fire in U.S. history, with a death
toll of 100, including the band’s guitarist
and over 200 were injured in the blazing
club. The memories and tragedy still
follow survivors, and loved ones left
behind.
Who was at fault? The tour
manager pled guilty and sentenced to jail
and two brothers who owned the club
agreed to a plea bargain; one served jail
time and the other received probation for
lesser involvement. Additionally, there

Winter Fire Season Tips:
have been over a dozen defendants in civil
cases including the companies who sold
and manufactured the flammable
soundproof ceiling foam, JBL (flammable
speakers), the TV station for it’s
cameraman obstructing the exit, and
many others.
Currently, there is a makeshift memorial
on the site where the club once stood.
The ownership of the site was transferred
to the Station Fire Memorial Foundation
who is planning to build a formal
memorial.
To respectfully commemorate
the 10th Anniversary of this event, a
documentary and web series will be
released on February 20, 2013. For more

It seems this time of the year
every time you watch the
news, there was another fire.
Here are a few tips to stay safe
friends!
1. Have furnace inspected and
chimney cleaned annually.
2. Give space heaters at least 3
feet of free space and use an
outlet, not extension cord!
3. Change batteries and test
your smoke/carbon monoxide
detectors at least twice a year.

All Systems Welcomes Nick Bucsok
All Systems is pleased to announce that Nick
Bucsok has joined our team. Nick is definitely an industry
pro who brings to the table experience in estimating and
managing large projects.
Nick has over 30 years engineering experience in
the fire sprinkler industry. Most recently he worked for
Scalise Industries for 8 years, as a Project Manager and
Project Estimator.
By far, his biggest job to date was the
Shippingsport Nuclear Power Plant, where he spent almost
9 years working. He also was the estimator on other
notable jobs such as the Consol Energy Headquarters at
Southpointe and Dick’s Sporting Goods Headquarters.
When asked what his favorite job was over the
years, there was no hesitation when Nick said “Definitely
the College of Fine Arts Building at CMU”. He explained
that this project was unique in that he was retrofitting a
Historical Landmark, which was also fully occupied during
renovations. He described many days of shimmying
through crawl spaces and overcoming obstacles while
preserving the integrity of the building. He said his year
working at CMU was the most challenging of his career,
but also the most rewarding and jokingly Bucsok said he
was hopeful a statue of himself would have been erected
by CMU at the end of that project!!!
In his free time, he focuses on his favorite “destressing” activities which include golf, fishing and
hunting. Nick also keeps busy with his family including
his 14 year old son who is very active in sports!
