The sandwich for Quickutz dies is the same sandwich as Spellbinders die
templates in the Grand Calibur.
How do I use Sizzix Originals dies in my Grand Calibur?
Sizzix Originals and similarly sized dies will not fit in the Grand Calibur.
How do I use a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder in my Grand Calibur?
Start with the A Base Plate on the bottom. Place the folder with cardstock on
top of the A Base Plate and cover with the Tan Embossing Mat then the W-025
Raspberry Spacer Plate. Insert into the front of the Grand Calibur. Turn the
handle and the sandwich exits at the back of the machine.
NOTE: There will be a thinner spacer plate available soon for use with the embossing folders
Currently the spacer plate is just a little tight and could break your plates.
How do I use a Fiskars Embossing Plate in my Grand Calibur?

it, next the cardstock, and cover with the Tan Embossing Mat and the W-025

How do I emboss with a brass stencil in my Grand Calibur?
Start with the A Base Plate on the bottom. Place the brass stencil then the
media to emboss on top of it, desired side facing down. Cover it with Tan
Embossing Pad. To avoid lines from the outside edge of the stencil, cut a Tan

the W-025 Raspberry Spacer Plate and insert into the front of the Grand Calibur.
Turn the handle and the sandwich exits at the back of the machine. Because the
size of charms and found items can vary, please test the sandwich with scrap
media before using up your desired media.

Start with the B Embossing Plate on the bottom. Place a piece of scrap paper on
the B Embossing Plate. Next position the bottle caps on the paper with the edges
facing up, flat side facing the paper. Cover with the Tan Embossing Pad, and

Grand Calibur. Turn the handle and the sandwich exits at the back of the
machine.
NOTE: Only use new, uncrimped bottle caps for this sandwich.
How do I set eyelets in my Grand Calibur?
How do I set eyelets in my Grand Calibur? Start with the B Embossing Plate on
the bottom. Then layer the Tan Embossing Mat. Next place the media, with eyelets
inserted into holes, with the front side of the paper facing down, eyelet
‘backside’ facing up. Place an eyelet washer onto each eyelet. Cover with the
W-015 Eyelet Setting Plate, then the W-025 Raspberry Spacer Plate. Insert the
sandwich into the front of the Grand Calibur. The handle and the sandwich exits
at the back of the machine.
NOTE: Use aluminum eyelets, and they should be a snug fit in the eyelet hole.
Using 8½ x 11" Paper
The Grand Calibur allows a consumer to pass an 8½ x 11" piece of paper through
the machine with out trimming the paper. However, the edges of the paper will
crinkle as they do so.
In the cases where an end user actually wishes to use the full piece of paper as
their die cut item they can preserve the edges by removing the tray.
To remove the tray:
1. Secure the Grand Calibur unit to a table, counter top or other smooth, strong
surface.
2. Pull the tray out until you are able to grip the sides with both hands.
3. Tug FIRMLY with both hands straight out from the machine.
4. The tray will pop out but will require some firm tugs.
The tray and machine should not be damaged. 8½ x 11" paper will now pass
through the machine without damage to the edges.
NOTE: The tray serves as a guide to align the plates as they feed into the
machine. When using the machine without the tray take extra care to load the
plates straight into the machine. The die cutting and embossing functionality is
not affected by the tray.
To replace the tray:
1. Align the grooves in the tray with the pink “rails” inside of the opening of
the Grand Calibur.
2. Firmly push and tap the tray back into the unit taking care to keep it
straight and even with the machine.
3. The tray will then snap into place. If the sides should become unevenly
entered into the machine, pull the tray back out and replace it keeping both
sides straight.
CAUTIONS
If the result of a die-cut is incomplete cuts, please add a shim (piece of paper
at least as large as your die templates) between the Base Plate (A) and your die
template to increase the pressure while die-cutting.
The Die/Embossing sandwich should be stacked in the correct order. Attempting to
use incorrect plates may cause damage to the machine. Please be sure the
combination of plates is correct.
If you have difficulty moving the sandwich through the machine, it may be caused
by an incorrect combination of plates. Please reverse the handle to release the
sandwich and check your plate combination. Forcing an incorrectly stacked
sandwich through the Grand Calibur will cause damage to your machine.
As with any papercrafting device, from scissors to die cutters, please exercise
caution. Our equipment and dies are not meant for use by unsupervised children.
For safety, after use, store out of reach of children.
