Official Rules:
1. Contest is open to amateur bakers only.
No professional bakers please.
2. Entry fee is $5.00. (Checks payable: St. Justin Martyr)
3. Dessert pies only - no tarts, crisps or cobblers.
4. * NEW CATEGORY: Pies that r equir e
refrigeration ARE acceptable.
5. Contestants may enter up to 2 pies.
6. List of ingredients MUST accompany the entry on any
size of paper or index card.
7. Pies must be homemade-crust and filling. No store
bought pie crust, shells, dough or filling.
8. Pies must contain at least a bottom crust.
9. Pies must be submitted in a disposable 8-10" pie plate/
pan as they will not be returned.
10. Each pie must be covered.
11. All pies become the property of St. Justin Martyr
Festival Pie Committee.
12. Maximum limit of pies for entire contest: 20.
13. Please do not write your name on the pie plate/pan.
Your entry will be assigned a number at
registration to allow for anonymity during
judging.
14. By participating in this event, entrants agree to abide
by the contest rules and decisions of the judges.
Entrants will agree to release the event and all
who participate in the production of this event
from any liability without limitations.

2. Submit pies on Sunday, July 24, 2016
between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to
pie contest site: Entertainment Tent 2
3. Judging will begin at 1:30 p.m. The Winners will
be announced following the close of judging
in the Main Entertainment Tent.
4. Judging will be based upon Appearance, Taste,
and Overall Impression.
5. Appearance is judged on the pr e-slice and afterslice (runniness, firmness and juiciness),
consistency of crust/topping.
6. Taste is judged on flavor , mouth feel, cr ust,
aftertaste.
7. Overall Impression is judged on memor able
quality, creativity, and uniqueness.
8. Contest judges will be chosen by the St. Justin
Martyr Festival Pie Committee.
The decision of the judges will be final.
9. All persons involved with producing this contest
are prohibited from entering.
At the end of the awards, pies will be sliced and
sold at the St. Justin Martyr Festival Bake Shop.

“Cupcake Contest For Kids ”

ENTRY FORM:
You must have an Entry
form on file to be judged. See attached
Entry Form. Entry forms are due by Monday,
July 18, 2016 to the St. Justin Martyr
Church Office, 35781 Stevens Blvd.,
Eastlake, OH 44095. Participants may submit
only one (1) entry. There is a limited amount
of entries per Age Group * 15 entries
maximum per Age Category.
RECIPE:
You may scratch bake or doctor
up a box mix prior to baking (example: adding
canned pumpkin to a vanilla box mix). You are
required to submit a list of ingredients at
check-in. Nuts are permitted - please be sure
to accurately label cupcakes containing nuts
or nut derivatives. Cupcakes requiring
refrigeration are NOT eligible for entry into
the contest, i.e. ice cream, cream cheese
frosting, etc.
JUDGING PROCEDURE:
Each cupcake
will be evaluated by a panel of judges.
Criteria used for judging:
1. Creativity
( use
of ingredients,
decorations, & theme)
2. Taste (flavor of frosting & cake)
3. Appearance (decorations). Judging will
begin at 6:30 p.m. in Entertainment Tent
#2. Judge's ballots will be collected and
tabulated to determine the First, Second
and Third prize winners in each Age
Category.
4. Winners will be announced in the Main
Entertainment Tent following the
completion of the judging and photos will
be taken of the winners at that time.
CHECK-IN: Each Entry will be assigned a number at
Check-in to allow for anonymity during judging.
PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING:
Thirteen (13) cupcakes (1 for judging and 12 for our Bake
Shop to sell) covered in a disposable container. Containers
will not be returned. Cupcakes must be in standard size
cupcake liners (no miniatures please). Children may have an
adult assist with baking the cake. Each child must ice and
decorate their own entry.
All cupcakes become the property of St. Justin Martyr
Church Festival’s Cupcake Contest For Kids Committee.
An index card stating: 1) Participant’s name; 2) the name of
the cupcake (fun names tend to capture the imagination of
the judges; and 3) a list of ingredients (recipes are not
required).
Entries must be dropped off on Saturday, July 23, 2016
between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at St. Justin Martyr
Church Festival’s Children’ Tent (area left of the school’s
main entrance), 35741 Stevens Blvd., Eastlake, OH. No late
entries will be accepted. All contestants will receive a
participation ribbon at check-in.

St. Justin Martyr
St. Justin Martyr Preschool provides a creative learning environment for young children. Education research
indicates that these early years are crucial for learning and, in fact, form the basis for future learning.
Interaction with other children and adults, in an atmosphere of Christian love and concern, promotes the healthy
development of each child. Learning experiences and play activities encourage spiritual, intellectual, social,
language and physical development.
Preschool registration packets may be obtained now for enrollment in the fall. We have 3 and 4 year old
