DSA Selection Process 2017
This is an overview of the selection process. More details on the audition requirement for specific
CCA groups will be given upon request, to the shortlisted candidates.

Rhythm Sense
• Able to clap to the rhythm selection
• Able to move with the rhythm
Instrumental Skills
Able to:
• handle and play the rhythm selection with at least 2 angklungs
• sight-read & play the given piece
(a) with at least 2 angklungs,
(b) on the solo rack angklung (melody / superbass) and/or
(c) Kulintang
• show immediately or imitate the Examiner some percussion basics play the kompang / tubano / darbouka / gendang / tambourine
• (OPTIONAL) do basic creative composition: angklung rhythm &
movement
Melodic / Aural Sense
• Sing the given piece and/or candidate’s choice: 8-16 bars

Note:
Prepared performance: Candidates are recommended to select pieces that will best showcase
their performance skills.
Skills Test: This component is conducted by the instructor/teacher to assess the candidates’
proficiency in acting/dancing/singing/playing an instrument and to measure their current
estimated potential. For example, music students will be assessed on their aural skills, sightreading and skills in playing the instrument while drama students may be assessed for their
acting skills, confidence and creativity through impromptu performance etc.
Interview: The interview is a dialogue session conducted by the school to get to know more
about the candidate and assess her suitability for DSA.
