General Practitioners with Emergency Department experience. Emergency Telehealth service (ETS) seeks General Practitioners with recent Emergency Department experience for telehealth shifts based in Perth. Are you an independent practitioner who has rural hospital based ED experience and an interest in emergency care in remote locations? Are you looking for something different? Have you ever considered working in telehealth? ...read on! The Emergency Telehealth Service (ETS) is an ‘emergency medicine’ service that delivers quality emergency care from Perth to rural and remote Emergency Departments (ED) using high definition video conferencing. ETS doctors play a key role in supporting WA Country Health (WACHS) ED clinical staff to manage: high end acuity cases advanced life support communication with tertiary hospitals and Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) to facilitate efficient retrieval to tertiary facilities. The ETS has demonstrated the ability to combine the telehealth modality with an effective, quality medical workforce to diagnose, treat and manage patients locally, reducing the need for patients to travel to access emergency care. The ETS operates like a ‘virtual ED’ with a FACEM based workforce and services 74 sites across 2.55 million square kilometres from Kununurra to Augusta! ETS doctors currently see 1,500 - 1,600 patients per month across WA, operating Monday to Sunday 0800 - 2300hrs. ETS is looking to commence a night duty roster. Although during the day the acuity of presentations to the ETS varies considerably with a large percentage associated with lower end acuity emergencies , it is anticipated that the night duty shift will attract high acuity emergency patients. We are looking for experienced GPs who have recent emergency experience to bring valuable skills and knowledge to the ETS to cover shifts 2300hrs to 0800hrs. If you possess ED skills and are: familiar with rural and remote medicine, and the associated disposition issues and transfer protocols able to work independently competent in trauma management and have procedural skills including intubation. ETS maybe your calling! You would be working with an ETS Nurse Coordinator and an on-call FACEM. This is a great opportunity to be part of an innovative service that uses the telehealth modality to deliver emergency care to rural and remote patients. The service is dedicated to WA Country Health Service EDs. This is a six month pilot project so if you would like to know more or wish to submit an expression of interest, please submit your CV and introductory email/letter to Yvonne Zardins (details below).
