How do you become famous?
Wow:
We will launch our Big Question with a
discussion on being famous.
Learning Challenges:
 What does famous mean?
 Who was Princess Diana and why was she known as
the ‘People’s Princess’?
 Who was Nelson Mandela?
 How did artists capture Princess Diana and Nelson
Mandela?
 How are Nelson Mandela and Princess Diana similar?
As historians/geographers we will:
Science: Which birds and plants would Little
Red Riding Hood find in our school grounds?
Ask and answer questions using an artefact/
photograph.
Why would Little Red Riding Hood find our
School a very interesting place to be?
Understand and appreciate that some famous
people have helped our lives to be better
today.
What animals can we find in our school
grounds?
Understand that we have a queen who rules us.
Find out more about a famous person from the
past and carry out some research on him or
her.
Use words and phrases like: very old, when
mummy and daddy were little?
Why do animals like to visit our school?
How can we keep a record of the different
types of plants and trees we find at or
around the school?
How can we capture the beauty of the birds,
plants and trees we see?
Can we name the different parts of the
plants and trees we see?
Reflection:

Using computing we will
 Research information facts about
dinosaurs.
 Use Microsoft Word to type our
name using capital letters and full
stops.

Make comments on the BLOG
As writers we will:
Recognise nouns, verbs and adjectives.
Examine a report on Wolves and look at the
features of a report.
Write our own reports on Dinosaurs.
The main focus for this half term will be for
children to write simple sentences with capital
letters, full stops, finger spaces and using the
conjunction ‘and’ and ‘because’ to extend sentences.
As readers we will:
 Read a range of non-fiction texts on
Dinosaurs.
 Read different versions of ‘Little Red
Riding Hood and write our own stories.
 Learn to read key words.
 Use our phonics skills to sound out
unfamiliar and new words.
Please read with your child every evening and
use the bookmarks to ask simple questions
about what you have read together.
Please encourage your child to bring their
reading book to school every day.
As mathematicians we will:

Write number statements using +, - x and






Double and halve numbers
Learn and use number bonds up to 20
Recognise coins and amounts of money
Add amounts of money to find totals
Solve number problems using pictures
Develop reasoning skills to solve number
problems.
As artists and designers we will:
Paint pictures of Nelson Mandela and Princess
Diana in the style of Andy Warhol.

 Talk about how the past is
different from now.
 We will discuss what Aliens think
about Earth.
The main focus for this half term will be
taking turns to speak and listening
carefully to our talk partners and other
children in our groups.
How can you help?



As musicians and dancers we will:


Perform carnival Brazilian dances as part
of our International Day.
Sing and perform the song, ‘Hall of Fame’
by the Script.
Read and practise key words every
evening.
Come into the classroom in the
mornings at 8:45am to support
your child with the morning task.
Talk to your child about what they
have learnt during the school day
and what they have eaten for their
lunch.
