Financial Coach - Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Job Description
Overview
The Center for Working Families (CWF) provides a supportive and resource-rich environment where low- and
middle-income families can obtain employment and career advancement opportunities, income supports, and
financial tools and services. By bundling these services, CWFs assist participants in reaching economic
stability. The Financial Coach will work to integrate existing financial literacy programs into the CWF model.
Position Description
We seek a person with a strong financial services background who is able to interact discreetly and effectively
with neighborhood residents on a range of financial and asset building issues. The successful candidate will
assist our site with the financial coaching component of the CWF initiative with a focus on non-English,
Spanish speaking clients. The job responsibilities include:
1. Providing one-on-one financial counseling/case management to CWF participants, including assessing
financial situations and helping them to develop realistic spending, savings, and debt management plans,
improving or building credit, developing emergency savings funds, and building assets (retirement,
education, housing, etc.)
2. Teaching financial education classes.
3. Managing outcome tracking and documentation requirements for the financial coaching component of
CWF.
4. Developing relationships with financial institutions in order to encourage more affordable financial
products and services for CWF constituents
5. Working as a member of the cross-functional team providing services to families enrolled in the CWF
initiative, sharing information, participating in team meetings, and helping to track and report progress
and outcomes related to the CWF Initiative.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
1. Two or more years experience in the financial or credit counseling industry preferred.
2. A four-year degree in business, finance, or a related field of study is preferred but may substitute
significant, highly relevant work experience (four years or more) and proven ability to successfully apply
financial coaching skills with the target population.
3. Fluent (verbal and written) in Spanish and English.
4. Excellent social/interpersonal skills and writing ability commensurate with the communication and
reporting requirements of the position.
5. Strong computer skills including experience with MS Office applications, using the Internet and database
management.
7. General knowledge and understanding of the needs of a low-income working population, as well as
knowledge of available community resources.
8. Well-organized and self-directed, with ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with great attention
to detail.
9. Incumbent must have valid driver’s license and own reliable transportation, as this position requires local
travel.
