Cove bar offers you the opportunity to get amongst the atmosphere of Whistling Kite while still
enjoying your own private area.
Situated at the end of our long main bar area,
Cove is the perfect place to kick back, put
your feet up and relax amidst soft furnishings
and couches.

The British tradition of High Tea began in the mid 1700s as an
afternoon meal usually served between 3 and 4 o'clock. Initially, it was
a meal for the working man, taken standing up or sitting on tall stools,
thus 'high'. Tea with cakes, scones, even cheese on toast would have
been served. It was around this time that one John Montagu, the
Fourth Earl of Sandwich, had the idea of placing meat and other
fillings between two slices of bread. Thus, the High Tea sandwich was
created. "Never" says Andreanis' French guide to etiquette (1988)
"leave your coffee spoon in your cup when you lift it to your lips".

Smooth functioning at the ‘Kite’
LOCK IT IN – Booking and organising your function
• Whistling Kite does not accept ‘tentative’ bookings due to the high demand of our function areas.
To avoid disappointment we advise that you email or come in with your completed function booking
form with a $200 deposit as soon as possible. Once we receive the form we can fully secure your booking.
No function will be considered booked until our functions coordinator has received this form and
confirmed it with you.
• Confirmed menu and beverage details are requested seven (7) working days prior to the event.
GIVE ME SPACE – Where can we be?
• Whistling Kite has no 100% exclusive areas and therefore we do not charge a room hire fee
• How private will the area be? The furniture in the selected area will be marked reserved. The area
will not be roped off or 100% exclusive.
• Whistling Kite will reserve a casual area for a minimum of 15 guests.

LET THERE BE DRINKS - Beverages
A variety of fresh, contemporary and affordable options are available for your drinking pleasure on the
night.
• Bar Tab - You choose the drinks selection or have an open selection for your guests to drink to a
pre-defined amount or time period (which can be extended). The kite will supply you with some fancy
wristbands for your party which will authorize them to obtain the available drinks from the bar on your
bar tab.
• Cash Bar - all beverages are paid for by your guests as they purchase.
BON APPETIT – Food.
• You can pre-order food from the cocktail platter menu or function pizza menu.
• Let us know when you’d like your food to arrive on the day of your function.
• What if you need more food??? Speak with the manager on duty and they will let you know what is
available.
• Please note that for set menu dinners you will be charged for confirmed numbers or actual
attendance, whichever is greater.
• Please let us know if you have any special requirements or allergies.
SHOW ME THE MONEY – Payments and confirmation
• At the end of your big night, we will need you to finalise your payment unless prior and alternative
arrangements have been made. For your convenience we accept cash, American Express, Diners
Club, major credit cards and have EFTPOS facilities available.

• Parking – free parking is available in the car parks situated around Whistling Kite
• Taxis – Whistling Kite Team will be more than happy to arrange Taxis for you at the end of your big
night

Cancellations
Cancellations received (7) days prior to the function will be fully refunded. Cancellations received with less
than (7) days’ notice will forfeit their deposit. Email notification is required to cancel your event

Room Assignment
Management reserves the right to assign another room or area for the organised function in the event that
the room or area originally booked for the function becomes unavailable, due to circumstances outside of
the Hotel’s control (i.e. rain) or should your guest numbers reduce below our minimum threshold, which
will be advised, without compensation. We request that no displays or fixtures be affixed to our walls
without prior approval.
Liquor Licencing
Under the liquor control act of Western Australia we have various obligations and reserve the right to
refuse service of alcohol to persons if he/she is deemed to be intoxicated or for any other reason
permissible by law. The law in respect of people under 18 years of age will be enforced at all times.
Approved identification must be provided on request. Due to our commitment to liquor licensing we do
not offer discounted rates for beverages.
Minors at functions
Minors must stay in the function area at all times and are obliged by law to leave the premises by 9:00pm.
To comply with WA law all guests under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by their own
parents or legal guardian who must stay with them for the duration of their time at Whistling Kite. If minors
attending a private function are found consuming alcohol, they will be asked to leave the venue
immediately and reported to Liquor Licensing.
Indemnity
Whistling Kite will not accept any responsibility for damages to or loss of merchandise left in the venue
prior to, during or after the function has concluded.
The client accepts responsibility for costs for any equipment, furniture, fittings or parts of the building
damaged by their guests and associates. Cost of any excess cleaning or repairing of property damage
will be assessed by the Venue Manager at The Vic and passed onto the client
