Radiology image discs (issued after October 2016)

Using Weasis to View Images from CD/DVD
Prerequisites to run Weasis software:



Java JRE
7 Zip or alternative file size compressor / extractor software, such as WinZip
Windows XP or 7 32 bit
Please note that while we have provided Weasis image viewer software for your use, you DO NOT
have to use this software.
Alternative DICOM viewers compatible with the DICOM image(s) provided are available online.
These can be downloaded for free from the I Do Imaging website: http://www.idoimaging.com/.
The site provides an extensive list of software including open source, for you to select a version
matching your computer(s) specifications.
If using Weasis, please ensure that the computer used meets the above requirements before
proceeding.
[1] download 7 Zip from http://www.7-zip.org/
For assistance with the download contact your internal IT support team. Please note that you
DO NOT need to use 7 Zip to unzip & extract the image files if you already have access to
alternative file size compressor / extractor software, such as WinZip
[2] copy the Weasis zipped folder [encryptedDICOM.zip] from the disc to your Desktop … DO NOT
copy the folder to any other computer driver or location
[3] right-click the Weasis zipped folder and select 7Zip or your local file size compressor / extractor
software from the list. Select the ‘Extract to …’ option and you’ll be presented with a prompt to
enter the password, enter this and click OK. The 7-Zip or local file size compressor / extractor
software application will create a new decrypted and decompressed folder [encryptedDICOM].
Note when selecting ‘Extract to …’ you have the option to choose the specific location where
you wish to extract and save the records to.
Once the extraction has completed open the new folder and select the Weasis-win32.exe file in the
Weasis-portable folder. Double click to start the application.
The Weasis application will load and automatically display a list of the studies and thumbnails on the
left had side of the application. Double click a thumbnail to review an image. Please note the time
required for the application to load the images will depend on the number and size of files and
may take a number of minutes.
To view the Tools list right click on the image
To display cine loops use the Tools in the Image Tool tab on the right hand side.
If you encounter any issues viewing the image files via Weasis speak to your internal IT Support
Team.
Again noting that while we have provided Weasis image viewer software for your use you DO NOT
have to use this software you can obtain another viewer that matches your computer
specifications.
