Purpose
The HR Advisor will support the Rise School and Real Focus to have healthy HR metrics and achieve HR
objectives. They will assist the management team to achieve outcomes set by the Senior Management
within their area of responsibility. The HR Advisor will encourage an inclusive culture throughout the
organisation that respects equality and individual differences.
This role will provide effective and pragmatic support by fulfilling all of the key tasks, responsibilities and
outcomes stated below.
Key Tasks, Responsibilities and Outcome
Management development and leadership practices:






Develop trusted advisor status with employees and managers within the area of responsibility. To
positively influence the management of employees within the area of responsibility and promote HR
services and achieve positive outcomes on the HR metrics.
Oversee and action the recruitment across the full range of roles and levels across the areas in its
entirety, advise of best recruitment practice including safer recruitment.
Encourage the management team to adopt best practice in all HR related activities
Promote induction process and other training to maximize attendance at training courses and assist
with managers and employees integration into the organisation.
Coach Managers on effective people management and the implementation of policies, procedures
and standards.
Interpret statistics, including HR performance indicators to influence business planning, staff
management and decision making across the area of responsibility
Resourcing
 Ensure processes are in place to enable managers to develop robust staff resource planning, including
the management of headcount, talent and timely management of staff vacancies
 Responsible for supporting recruitment and selection to ensure compliance with employment legislation
and best practice including safer recruitment guidelines.


Enable managers to target resources and attract suitable candidates in the most efficient and cost
effective way by understanding local job markets, pay trends, advertising media, and recruitment
agencies
Promote Dimensions and subsidiaries in the job market and ensure equality and diversity is embedded

effectively.
Employee Engagement
 Responsible for maintaining strong relationships with local union representatives
 Participate regularly in local staff forums, communicating the role of HR within the area and acting
as the HR representative for the geographical area
 Ensure open communication between management and employees
 Encourage the celebration of success by sharing best practice
Employee Relations
 Promote an ethos of cooperation and collaboration in order to resolve conflict locally and informally
wherever possible, and at an early stage which avoids escalation
 Act as the case manager in individual and collective performance, absence, grievance and disciplinary
cases and work with local representatives on employee relations matters to enable a collaborative
approach to resolution
 Proactively guide managers through the relevant processes to ensure compliance and timely resolution
of cases
 Encourage the best outcome for all involved and safeguard the organisation from potential litigation
 Prepare the case file for any employment tribunals
Policies, procedures and processes
 Interpret, apply and develop policies, procedures and principles of good practice to ensure accurate and
consistent advice that delivers successful outcomes
 continually improve HR systems and work flow processes to achieve economies and efficiencies that
make the line managers’ work simpler


Work as part of a wider team to support the implementation of new HR policies, procedures and
processes across the organisation as a whole
Ensure managers are supported to comply with all policies, procedures and processes
Communication and Relationships
 Work with other HR colleagues to ensure consistent HR advice and overall effectiveness of HR delivery
within the HR department
 Work in partnership with other departments in order to achieve the best people related outcomes
 Develop and maintain networking opportunities with other organisations/ HR professionals to share best
practice
 Manage all relationships using tact, persuasion and teamwork, exchanging information clearly so that
the recipient can understand and act upon it

addition to the above, the HR Advisor is expected to:
Maintain awareness of own developmental needs and hence undertake training as necessary
Declare any circumstance which might constitute a possible conflict of interest, where appropriate
Undertake such other duties from time to time as required by the HR Manager or Head of HR Services
