As a former instructor for the famous Jim Russell Racing
Drivers School, Tommy has the expertise to carry a driver
forwards, through a comprehensive and structured training

fast and safe on the road, to becoming professional racing

Bronze – On the Road
Tailored for owners of high performance road cars, drivers learn
advanced high performance techniques to ensure they get the
most from their cars, safely and with confidence. Tuition is
carried out not only on the road, but also at carefully selected
race circuits. Clients benefit from Tommy’s 25 years of
experience, as an instructor and an international racing driver, to
learn the limits of their car and how to exploit - and control - its
true potential.
Topics covered include: driver ergonomics and posture;
steering techniques; effective braking; throttle control; hazard perception; overtaking; appropriate use of gears
and effective car control.
Silver – Taking to the Track
A comprehensive introduction to the racing circuit, extending
and enhancing the fundamental concepts of car control, building
on the lessons learned on the road, and pushing car and driver
to the limits. Drivers will take part in professionally organised
and monitored track days at some of the UK’s top motor racing
venues, with the unique opportunity of personal tuition from
Thomas Erdos. The course will begin with a refresher session,
covering the essentials of the Bronze package, as appropriate
to each driver.
Additional topics covered include: Oversteer and understeer - maintaining full control of the car at all times;
maximising braking potential; effective use of throttle and gearbox; the optimum line and ‘learning’ a circuit;
stability and understanding weight distribution; exploiting straights; dealing with traffic and correct track etiquette.
Gold – Preparing for ARDS
The time comes in many a driver’s career when they realise that
driving fast around a race track simply isn’t enough. They’ve
proven to themselves that they can control a car at speed, but
now they want to prove it to everyone else. They want to go
racing. In order to do so, they’ll need to qualify for a racing
licence, and to achieve that, they’ll need to pass the test set by
the Association of Racing Drivers Schools. Tommy is a fully
accredited ARDS instructor, and drivers who have completed
the Silver course with Tommy will be well on the way to being
prepared for that test. The Gold course will then give them not
only the best chance of passing first time, but also of being prepared for their debut on track.
The course will include in-depth refinement of all topics covered by the Silver package, with the addition of oneto-one tuition at specially arranged track tests. The course will feature theoretical instruction as well as practical
sessions, and drivers will undergo ‘mock’ examinations to ensure that they are fully prepared for the final test.
Platinum – Heading for the Podium
Is it the winning or the taking part that matters? In motorsport,
it’s all about the podium. Expert tuition from an experienced
driver can make all the difference, and Thomas Erdos knows the
business. After nearly twenty-five years at the top of his game,
Tommy appreciates what it takes to stand on that top step, and
he’s prepared to share that expertise. Whether starting a debut
season, or looking to move up into a new formula, the Platinum

balance; aerodynamics and handling; mechanical grip and tyre technology; providing effective feedback and
instruction; working with engineers and technicians; mechanical sympathy and understanding; functioning within
a team and handling the media. There will also be instruction on the importance of health and fitness to the
modern racing driver.
