2012 International Summer School in Zhejiang University
The theme of this summer school is ‘Entrepreneurship in China” – put it simply, to experience
entrepreneurial flair in China. You can take a close look at one of the oldest civilizations on the
earth, a country with more than 5000 years’ history, to know an economy maintaining an annual
increase rate of 8% in the global economic slowdown, and to listen to the ‘Made in China’ story.
There are lots of business opportunities in this rapidly developing country.
The City
The place you are going to is a modern leisure city
– Hangzhou, located along the southeast coast of
China. Hangzhou is about 50 minutes travel away
from Shanghai by the high-speed train. Hangzhou,
as the capital city, is the center of politics, economy,
science, education, and culture of Zhejiang Province,
which is well known in China for its vibrant private
economy, entrepreneurial flair and innovation.
Hangzhou is also renowned as “Paradise on Earth”,
“Cultural State”, “Home of Silk”, “Home of Tea”,
and “Town of Fish and Rice”. It was once the
capital city of China in Song Dynasty.
The West Lake Cultural Landscape of Hangzhou was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List

The University
Zhejiang University (ZJU)
is recognized as one of the
leading universities in
China, and its School of
Management (SoM) is
generally acknowledged as
one of the best business
schools in China. The
School of Management is
one
of
the
twenty
faculties/schools in ZJU.
The mission of the school is to create new theories and methods to promote the development of
social welfare and management science in China and cultivate innovative management talents who
will lead and serve economic and social development. ZJU has five campuses. The largest campus
is based on the National Park of Xixi Wetland with magnificent views and abundant historical and
cultural heritage.
During the summer school, SoM will provide a series of business-relate lectures – to give you an
insight of Chinese business and economic features. You will be walking a lot – around the world
heritage the West Lake, in Yiwu China Commodity Market, which probably produces for the
whole world, and in famous local companies. You will be given an interesting project – to be an
“entrepreneur” in China. Moreover, language and cultural sessions will definitely give you a
hands-on culture experience.
Admission
Accommodation: You will be allocated in a
4-star hotel on campus (Qizhen Hotel, ZJU).
You will be sharing a twin room with another
student. Food will be available on campus
cafeteria and supermarket.

Business
