Dear Parent(s) & Softball Players,
We wanted to take the time to welcome everyone to another exciting year ofgirls’summer softball. We are planning the 2013 season and wanted
to provide you with some beneficial information regarding board members, divisions, fundraising, registrations fee and volunteers. The 2013
board consist ofnew faces that bring great experience and enthusiasm to the league. The 2013 board members consist ofthe following:
I. Mike Cappella (League President) ,iicarn,ella24(veri anne!
2. Pete Long (League Vice-president) lonselectric@verizon. net
3. Jim Murphy (Secretary) haeapre@inail. corn

All divisions will continue to be structured by grades rather than age. This means the division your daughter is in will depend on whatever grade
she is in as of 1113 (ex. f your daughter is in 7” ,grade as of 1113 she will be in the Pigtail division). The followin, is a breakdown of each
h
th
th
7
grade, Tigertail Division: 8
12’ ‘grade.
division: Cottontail Division (Instructional): K I grade, Pigtail Division: 4
In order for parents, players, umpires and coaches to plan their summer accordingly the following is a tentative schedule indicating days and
times ofgames as well as starting and ending dates for each division. All league games will be at 6 & 8pm on Monday, Wednesday & Friday’s
(possible Sunday evening games pending make-ups). The Cottontail Division will be scheduled some Saturday evening games as well this year.
The Cottontail season will begin middle to end of May pending weather and field conditions (has yet to be determined) and tentatively ending
mid July. The Tigertail and Pigtail Division will iQE start until school is over for the 2012-2013 year. Projected start of season is the second
,h
week ofJune and ending the last week ofJuly. Playoffs for both the Tigertail & Pigtail Divisions will be the week ofAugust 4
The 2013 league fundraiser will consist be selling Subway Discount Books at $10.00 a piece. The registration fee for the 2013 season is $90.00
(includes fundraiser money). However, you will receive $50.00 back after selling your Subway Discount Books. There is NO buyout this year!
The buyout is included in your child’s registration fee. All girls will receive 5 $10.00 Subway discount books to sell. Parents families are paying
for the coupon book with their registration (in advance); however parents are to keep the moneyfor all the books sold (they are not given back to
the league). Therefore the original $90.00 you pay for your daughter’s registration will be reduced to $40.00 once you sell the five Subway
Discount books. All monies from this year’s fundraiser go directly back into league expenses (ex. field maintenance, player ‘s equipment,
backstop padding, dirt, softballs, umpire fees, mowers, liner, gas, concession stand equipment, netting for the new batting cage etc.). Total cost
ofregistration after tickets sold is $40.00. This change was initiated afew years ago to make it easierfor families to sell and also for coaches to
focus on coaching rather than spending time figuring out all the headaches that come with who paid, who did not pay and collecting the
fundraiser money and/or products. Hopefully this makes sense. The league has received positive feedback from families since this change took
place.
In order to give you an idea about some (but not all) improvements that have taken place since September we mention the following: 1. Field #3
& #2 infield has been redone with the hope of better drainage and safer conditions. 2. The batting cage along side field #3 is almost complete.
Ground has been leveled and turf has been put down. Only thing left to accomplish is netting and equipment. These are a few changes to
mention. Afew upcoming projects goals to accomplish for the up coming year is to update all electrical boxes located in the concession stand as
well as on the light poles by field 2 & 3. Also looking to build a dressing room between field 3 & 2 for all softball participants to utilize during
the school softball season and during the summer season as well as to purchase needed mowers to maintain all 3 fields and their surrounding
area. (while still maintaining the every needs ofthe fields).
The league is always looking for sponsors and/organizations in order to help us accomplish our yearly goals. Ifanyone knows ofan organization
willing to donate and/or sponsor a team as well as volunteering in some way to help the league this summer (ex. field maintenance, concession,
coaching, field projects etc.) please let us know either by email and/or via your daughter ‘s registration. The league concession stand is vital to
league. The money generated from concession sales provides us with the flexibility to provide safer and better fields, improve the environment
around each field, expandfields, conduct softball clinics, pay umpires on a daily basis etc. Therefore any help is welcomed!
Attached is the 2013 registration application. Please take the time or review and complete the application. In order to prepare for the season, all
applications are due by April 15”'. 2013. Any applications received after the April 15” your daughter will be put on a waiting list in the order
received. We have to do this in order for us to effectively prepare for the 2013 season. Registrations will also available at all Hollidaysburg Area
Schools. Please have your daughter(s) inquire at their respective schools. I wanted to thank-you for taking the time to review the presented
information as well as for the support to the Hollidaysburg Area Girls Softball League. Ifyou have any questions regarding the league please
feel free to contact us via email at mcappella24 i,verion.net. Look forward in seeing everyone at Legion Park!
Sincerely,
Mike Cappella; League President
