Dear Applicant
Congratulations on being made an offer of a place at City of Glasgow College please read the
following information BEFORE accepting the offer.
Important Note: The College is currently reviewing its course provision and the course for
which you have been made an offer will run subject to viable numbers and solely at the
discretion of the College. In the event of a place not being made available the College will
make all reasonable endeavours to offer you an alternative place on a similar course.
What does my offer mean?
A Definite Offer......... means that you have met all the course entry requirements and have
been accepted onto the course.
A Conditional Offer.......... means that you have to fulfil certain conditions before a Definite
Offer can be made. Please inform Student Services as soon as you have met your conditions.
This does not apply to students currently studying at City of Glasgow College who will have their
conditional offers updated on the recommendation of their course tutor.
What should I do now?

Accept/decline the offer of a place by email to [email protected].
within 2 weeks of the offer date. Your place is not secured until you accept the offer made.

Apply for any funding you might require. (See additional Information on Funding Below).
What happens next?
When you are successful in obtaining a place we will not progress your other choice(s).
You will receive Joining Instructions giving details of our Induction Programme, when to enrol
and your first day of attendance. This notification will normally be sent out by the end of July. If
you have a conditional offer, you must meet the conditions before we can enrol you.

If you change your mind or are unsure whether you should accept the place it is better to
discover this at an early stage. If this happens we can provide professional and impartial advice
on what to do next from the College Careers Advisors – tel. no. 0141 566 4134 or

Remember if you change your mind, get a job or go to another college then please contact
Student Services and let us know that you will not be starting. This means we can offer your
place to the next person on the reserve list.
When do I start?
Induction and Enrolment for August Start programmes will take place during weeks
commencing 12 August and 19 August 2013. Full Time classes start from Thursday 22
August 2013. Dates to be confirmed. We will publish an Induction and Enrolment Schedule on
our website in July.
Your Joining Instructions will confirm exactly when to start. When you start college your course
tutor will give you a timetable for your classes, show you around the department and provide
details of any essential equipment and books etc.
What financial support can I apply for if I come to College?
What money you get will depend on the level of course you are studying, your age and your
household income.

Childcare Funds- Students who have childcare responsibilities should apply to the College
Childcare Fund. Children must be with a registered childminder or nursery. For lone parents the
college may be able to pay the full amount of Childcare up to a maximum of £6,500 for the year.
HNC/D students must have their fees paid by SAAS/Local Authority to be eligible.
Hardship Funds - Students who are experiencing financial problems that are stopping them
attending college can apply for help from the Hardship Fund. Awards from this fund are made at
the discretion of the College.

The City of Glasgow College Student Association is active in representing all the students of the
College. When you enrol you are automatically a member of the NUS (National Union of

What additional learning support can I access if I come to College?
Our Student Development team offer a range of additional learning support opportunities to help
you access you course. If you have a medical condition or difficulty that has implications for
your health and safety; or support needs that may need some time to organise and plan e.g.
organising a Sign Language Interpreter or Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan for (wheelchair
users/students with mobility difficulties) then it is important you let us know as soon as you
decide so every effort can be made to have this in place before your course start date.
Extended/Learning Support Available:

Specialist teaching and support staff supporting students with dyslexia, mental ill health,
Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, mobility difficulties, sensory impairment, literacies
difficulties etc.

