January 2014 WORD OF MOUTH Jesus had quite the following. So much so, the Bible calls His followers “multitudes.” Have you ever wondered how word spread so far, so quickly about Jesus? Maybe Peter had a pioneering advertising idea, or maybe Judas reached deep into the bag to hire the best marketing firm. If it were today, maybe the disciples would combine social media, email blasts, and radio spots. Well, while you can hopefully sense the sarcasm in my tone, this is a valid question. How did people find out about Jesus? How did they accomplish such a feat in a day before the printing press, television, cell phones, or Facebook? ! Well there was only one possible way, and it is described for us throughout the Gospels. In Matthew 9, Jesus healed two blind men. Then the Bible says, “But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.” The news spread about Jesus simply through “word of mouth.” According to Wikipedia, “word of mouth” is described as “the passing of information from person to person by oral by Mr. Reeves communication.” Obviously, this can be accomplished on a cell phone or on Facebook, but it is personal and one-on-one. ! I am often asked about what method we have used at BRCA to get the word out about our school. While we do some advertising, I simply tell folks that we have tripled over the last seven years by “word of mouth.” You see parents watch their children grow in knowledge and in character, and they want the same for others. So they simply tell their friends – “word of mouth.” ! !Who do you know who could benefit from BRCA? Let me challenge you to take some time today to identify at least one family who could, and then develop a plan to let them know about your school. More people were helped by Jesus during His earthly ministry because people told others, and the same can be true today.! A SPECIAL THANKS First of all, our Thanksgiving Food Drive was a huge success; and the Good Shepherd Children’s Home would like to send a special thanks to all those who gave. A home full of children and workers will be fed this season in large part to BRCA students, parents, and faculty. Our school collected hundreds of food and cleaning items during that week! Also, we would like to thank all those families who helped us bring in over 4,000 Box Tops! We are so thankful for all the families who make up BRCA!! CURRENT EVENTS Jan. 6 First Day Back! Over 13 years, we have handed out over 170,000 pieces of gospel literature in 8 languages; and as a result, we have seen over 680 trust Christ for heaven. We always have several go that are on Ranch staff, but a large percentage of those that go are friends from around the country. Pray for those going and those who will hear (or read) the gospel. Also pray about the possibility of going yourself next year. !! !! ! !
