If it is part of a series, of lessons, tell me, give a BRIEF description of the overall and tell me where this particular lesson fits): N/A Time (is this a 1 day 50 minute lesson, 5 day 1 hour lesson, once a week over a month lesson….): 5 day 45 minute lesson What do the students already know? (This could be the Intro or they have learned information before starting this lesson): This is introducing the layers of Earth to the students for the very first time. Objective (What are the students’ going to accomplish): The students are going learn about how the earth has different layers and how each of the layers work. Materials: pencil, paper, small poster board, construction paper, glue, scissors, markers or crayons or colored pencils, and textbook Procedure: Day1- The teacher will discuss each layer of the earth and explain what each layer’s role is in how the earth is made up. Day2- The teacher will assign groups and each group will be a different layer of the earth. The students will collaborate on how each layer of the earth is important and how it works. The groups will also design a model to show their layer. Day3- The students will break off into their groups and continue their group projects. Day4- The groups will then present their layers of the earth to the class. Day5- The class will take a test over the layers of the earth and hand it in to the teacher when they are finish. Assessment (How will the students’ show you that the objective has been met): My assessment will be that of how well the students worked together in their groups and presented their layers of the earth and by how well they paid attention to the groups presenting by giving a test over the layers of the earth. A Brief Description Of The Entire Lesson - Plus Any Additional Information to be Included: This lesson will be over a period of 5 days and will consist of the students learning about the earth’s layers by having the teacher go over each layer, then the students breaking off into groups for two days. The students will present their group work on the fourth day and will be given a test over what has been taught and learned on the fifth day. (I should be able to see and understand your entire lesson by reading this. Remember, Technology is not the lesson. It enhances the lesson)
