INTEGRITY
History/Geography
In History, Year 3 will be exploring
the Stone Age period. This period
will be studied chronologically,
where we will examine the three
sections; Paleolithic, Mesolithic and
Neolithic individually.
We will also look at how people
lived in this period. We will be using
sources to examine the changes
that happened over this period of
time and using this to understand
how people’s lives may have
changed as a result of the changes
in technology.
Children
will
also
highlight
significant events during the Stone
Age and use their reasoning skills to
explain why it is important to us in
the present time. Children will use
their knowledge on time to place
events in chronological order.
In Geography Year 3 will be
researching where the Stone Age
settlements were in the United
Kingdom using a range of sources.
Children will also use a atlas to
locate these settlements and record
their findings.
We will also be using the internet to
find
out
information
about
Stonehenge and use this to create a
informative fact file.
Art/DT
In art the children will be finding out
the different ways in which the
stone age people created paints and
colours. They will also experiment
with a variety of techniques
including drawing and painting
using pencil, charcoal and paint.
Using these techniques the children
will create an informative and
interesting Stone Age exhibition
which will include cave paintings.
Children will also observe and
analyse a range of Stone Age
paintings and interpret what they
think the paintings represent.
In Design technology the children
will learn about stone age
monuments by designing and
evaluating a model of either Star
Carr or Skara Brae. Children will use
a range of materials and techniques
to create their models. In the
course of the above design we will
use role play to learn about the
course of events that might have
led to hunter gatherers taking up
farming.
Computing
In ICT, children will be using
coding to make things happen in a
sequence, creating simple
animations and simulations.
Children will also develop their
knowledge on how 'time' can be
used in programming to control
physical systems in real life
situations such as traffic lights. They
will also create their very own
‘Stone Age’ themed app, where
they will use logical reasoning to
explain how algorithms work.
PSHCE
Our topic this term is about ‘New
Beginnings’. During this topic
children will be looking at the
importance of rules and
responsibilities. They will
understand why we need to have
rules. Children will also be looking
at the importance of feeling special
and making others feel special.
Children will explore a range of
feelings and emotions in different
situations and discuss how they can
manage these feelings.
P.E.
In Dance children will explore,
improvise and combine movement
ideas related to the three eras of
the Stone age. Children will
compose creative and imaginative
dance sequences in a group. They
will also develop their performance
skills and learn to observe and
evaluate their own work and each
other's work. Children will also
recognise the link between music
and movement and appreciate
different music genres.
R.E.

religions. They will be focusing on
the Christian and Hindu creation
stories and comparing how they
differ. Children will also learn about
different aid agencies and how they
help to promote well being and
peace around the world. Finally

about the natural world affect
actions in the life of the religious
believer e.g. Ahimsa
