What is Megathon?
Guelph Y members and community members take on challenges and raise pledges to support
Guelph Y community programs.
Challenges can be completed as a group, for example:
•
timed cycle challenge
•
family dance and drum-a-thon
•
float your boat challenge (grab your cardboard boxes and duct tape!)
•
etc.
Or on an individual level, for example:
•
strong man & strong woman (weightlifting)
•
tread-a-thon
•
climb the Eiffel Tower (via the Stairmaster)
•
etc.
What does Megathon support?
The Guelph Y is more than a gym, we are a community where everyone belongs. By supporting
Megathon, you are supporting all of the Guelph Y’s community programs, which includes support for:
•
access for all (financially assisted memberships)
•
a welcoming place for newcomers to Canada (free one year memberships)
•
stroke recovery (customized post-rehab program)
•
women with breast cancer (holistic support program)
•
free swim to survive lessons for all kids (SHARKs program)
•
people with Parkinson’s (customized exercise program)
•
kids being kids (subsidized summer day camp)
•
teen moms and their families (TAPPs)
•
people with MS (customized exercise program)
•
empowerment of young girls (Power of Being a Girl Conference)
•
all kids being active
•
awareness of youth gambling (YGAP)
•
people with low mobility (customized exercise program)
