When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the
dorm room, I had only two things on my mind: Thanksgiving dinner and
meeting my new nephew. I have been wanting to come back home for a while
now. I’m in my second year of college, and I already have enough of it. During
high school, I was thinking about what I wanted to do in life. I definitely wanted
to go to college. I talked to my brothers about it.
“Ponyboy,” Darry said, “Because you love running so much, I think you should
become a track star!”
“Yeah, that would be so cool,” exclaimed Sodapop,”and guess what? I bet all
of the girls would be chasing after you Ponyboy!”
So anyway they made it sound so cool that I went to college to become a
track star. Now I am working my butt off, but I will admit it is a lot of fun and
Sodapop was right about all the girls. But I am not interested in them because
I have a girl of my own. Her name is Kelly and she is the love of my life.
Enough about me, let me tell you a little bit about what else is going on in my
life.
The most exciting thing that happened was that Soda, Darry, and I decided
we were going to rebuild the burned down church. We got to name it. We all
agreed on the name “Stay Gold”. Under the name there were letters that
spelled out “ In Memory of Johnny, Dally, and Bob.” I really did miss those
guys. I think about them all of the time.
Next, is Sodapop. One day I came back from college for a 2 week break. I
was sitting on the couch and after a few seconds the phone rang.
“OMG,” Sodapop yeled,”this phone is so loud. I was in the middle of a nap.
Answer the phone Ponyboy and tell the person that is calling to never call
back again”.
I got up from the couch and answered the phone. I was going to tell the
person to never call again, but then I realized that the voice sounded familiar.
“Hello,” the voice said,” is anybody there?”
I took a couple of seconds to think about who it was. Then it came to me. It
was Sandy!
“Hi there,” I answered,” this is Ponyboy”.
“Ohh Ponyboy, how have you been?” she answered
“Great and you?” I asked.
“Amazing!”, she exclaimed,” I have a question is Sodapop around?”
“Yup he sure is,” I answered.
“Sodapop” I yelled,” get your butt over here, somebody wants to speak with
you!”
Sodapop groaned and slowly made his way to the phone.
“Who is this?” he said in a mean way,” and what do you want?”
“Hi its Sandy” she said
“Sandy?” he asked with a smile on his face.
“Yeah its me,”Sandy answered,” Sodapop, I am so sorry for what I did. It’s just
that when I found out I was pregnant I didn’t know what to do. All I want you to
know is that I love you and I hope you can forgive me.”
“Sandy, you really did hurt me. I thought I did something wrong. I love you too
and I do forgive you.” Sodapop said.
“I love you Sodapop!” she yelled,”I want to come back to you with the baby
Sodapop.”
“I would love that!” Sodapop answered.
“See you soon” Sandy said.
“See you soon” Sodapop answered.
So that is my new nephew that I am so excited about meeting. His name is
Sebastian. Now Sandy and Sodapop are very busy with their little baby boy.
Moving on, let me tell you about Darry. Darry went back to school to become
an architect. Now he is making so much money! He ended up meeting Cherry
Valance and they fell in love; in addition, they have been dating for over 4
years. They live in a mansion with their two dogs. Now they are waiting until
Cherry gets out of college so they can get married.
I am so excited. Just two street away from Darry’s house, where we will be
having Thanksgiving dinner. I have finally arrived. I hop out of my car and ring
the doorbell. The next thing I see is my little nephew that looks just like
Sodapop.
“Hello, Uncle Ponyboy!” he yells.
