Utilites. Add the following paragraph after Paragraph 1: Some of the utility work described below is dependent on prior work being performed by the contractor at a specific site. In such situations the contractor shall provide the project engineer and the affected utility a good faith notice of when the utility is to start work at the site. The notice shall be given 14 to 16 calendar days in advance of when the contractor expects to complete the prior work and the site will be available to the utility. The contractor shall follow up with a confirmation notice to the project engineer and the utility not less than 3 working days before the site will be ready for the utility to begin its work. In Paragraph 3, revise the last sentence as follows: Replace “Contact Ruth Alfaro…at (608) 246-3838” with “Contact Jean Mancheski…at (608) 246-3807” In Paragraph 6, add the following sentence to the end of paragraph: This work is anticipated to begin April 1, 2003 and take 20 working days to complete, weather permitting. The contractor shall not strip or store topsoil in these areas until work is completed by Scenic Rivers. In Paragraph 8, revise sentence 1 as follows: Replace “ATC will be relocating…removing…” with “ATC will be relocating…adjusting…” In Paragraph 8, add the following sentence to the end of paragraph: This work is anticipated to start February 1, 2003 and take 5 working days to complete. This work is dependent upon Alliant Energy Corp. relocating their existing overhead wires prior to the removal of the existing poles. Alliant plans to relocate at the same time as ATC. In Paragraph 13, add the following sentence to the end of paragraph: Alliant plans to extend a gas service to the proposed Welcome Center. The line will begin on Liberty Street in front of Parcel # 26 and proceed north to the Welcome Center inside the new right-of-way along STH 126/CTH G. Work on this portion is anticipated to be complete by July 1, 2003. In Paragraph 15, add the following sentence to the end of paragraph: This work is anticipated to begin September 2, 2002 and be complete prior to construction. Belmont Telephone will be running service to the proposed Welcome Center. This work is anticipated to be completed by July 1, 2003. In Paragraph 19, add the following after sentence 2: Electric service to the proposed Welcome Center will also be completed. The following is added at the end of the last paragraph in this Article: All work is anticipated to start December 16, 2002 and be completed by April 1, 2003. 16 Excavation Below Subgrade. Paragraph 3 is deleted and replaced with the following: The only exception to the use of rock fill as backfill in areas of excavation below subgrade shall be in the area of pile zones for bridge substructure units. The contractor shall place a zone (approx. 20 ft. wide) of finer-grained soils around the piles to enable driving of H-piles. The finer-grained soils shall be placed and compacted in 8-inch lifts concurrent to match the elevation of the surrounding rock placement. This zone will extend to the bottom of any areas of excavation below subgrade associated with the structures/embankments. 18 Embankment In Paragraph 3, Sentence 1 and in Paragraph 5, Sentence 1, revise as follows: Replace “2 to 4 feet of earth embankments…top 1 foot of earth embankment…” with“2 feet of earth embankment…top 2 feet of earth embankments…” In Paragraph 6, Sentence 1, revise as follows: Replace “…20 in. wide) of finger-grained..” with “… 20 ft. wide) of finer-grained…” 68 Asphaltic Concrete Pavement. An asphaltic concrete pavement mix design in the counties of Iowa, Grant, Green, or Lafayette shall be submitted 14 days prior to paving. The mix design shall be a comparison design submittal to the Department Bureau of Highway Construction Materials Laboratory. 69 Plans. Construction Details Plan Sheet 14 is replaced by the attached 8.5” x 11” plan sheet. The revision reflects a change in construction detail “Detail for Subgrade Treatment in Embankments”, the minimum depth of rock materials shall be changed from 3 feet to 2 feet. Miscellaneous Quantities Plan Sheet 114 is replaced by the attached 8.5” x 11” plan sheet. The revision reflects changes to the miscellaneous quantities of Erosion Mat, Class I, Type B and Geotextile Fabric, Type SAS.
