Our field trip
yesterday to Blind Pony
was a huge success! For
starters, all students
were very well behaved.
Many times I saw students using their manners,
being respectful to the
instructors and those
around them, and patiently
waiting their turn. Secondly, we were able to
take what we had learned
about the grassland and
upland habitats in the
classroom and apply it
first hand to our service
learning project. Students
rotated between stations
to “build” an Ice Cream
Sunday, a taco, and a pizza. They discussed what
ingredients they would not
have if the grassland animals were not able to pol-
dividend, divisor, and
quotient. “

linate various plants. Next,
they participated in a relay
race to act as if they were
grassland birds and insects
trying to pollinate plants.
However, I feel that everyone’s favorite part was
planting the seeds. We
walked across the area
spreading seeds and then
walked back across the
area to make sure the
seeds were buried. It was
exciting to see what was
planted the last two years
and how far it has grown.
All together, it was a great
day full of cooperative
learning for everyone.
