Mesa Water Receives AAA
Rating From Standard & Poor’s
Mesa Water’s rating from Standard
& Poor’s (S&P) has been raised from
“AA+” to “AAA,” based on S&P’s
stable outlook on the District. Rating
factors include having a diverse and
established customer base, a strong
financial profile, including a fiveyear capital improvement plan, and
completing the District’s amber-colored
water treatment facility to help achieve
a 100 percent local water supply to
meet long–term demands. The S&P
“AAA” rating represents the District’s
commitment to sound financial practices
and transparency.
Fresh Water Facts
Keeping Fire Hydrants
Ready to Serve
Did you know that Mesa Water owns,
operates, and maintains all of the fire
hydrants in its service area? Mesa
Water’s operations team regularly tests,
cleans, and replaces, as needed, over
3,300 hydrants throughout the District’s
service area to make sure they are
ready to serve in case of emergency.
When hydrants are “retired,” they’re
painted blue and made available on a
first-come, first-served basis for nonprofit
fundraisers benefitting the Mesa Water
service area. Visit MesaWater.org for
more information.

New Year Marks Milestones for Mesa Water
District’s Awareness and Reliability
Mesa Water District (Mesa Water) commemorates the one-year anniversary of several significant
accomplishments, including a new logo and name, an active presence on social media, and
becoming 100 percent local and reliable.
These have been identified as priorities for the
District through the Board of Director’s strategic
plan. The strategic plan helps Mesa Water’s
Board and staff fulfill the District’s mission of
being Dedicated to Satisfying our Community’s
Water Needs.
New Logo And Name
Just one year ago, Mesa Water introduced its
new logo and name to the community. The
goal in creating a new brand identity is to
increase awareness for better recognition by
our ratepayers, community members, and other
constituents. Mesa Water wants its customers
to know that it is providing high-quality water to
their homes and businesses. The new logo and
name are now protected by copyright (logo)
and trademark (“Mesa Water”) to make sure
communications about your water supplies are
authentically coming from the District.
Social Media
Mesa Water is now connecting with the public through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and
YouTube to share timely accomplishments, interesting facts about water, and invitations to events,
among other District news. To follow Mesa Water on any of its social media platforms, visit the
MesaWater.org home page.
100 Percent Local And Reliable
To achieve the goals of providing a safe, abundant, and reliable water supply, and to practice
perpetual infrastructure renewal and improvement, Mesa Water completed and opened its Mesa
Water Reliability Facility (MWRF), which allows the District to supply 100 percent locallysourced water to customers. The MWRF Improvements Project, was financed in a responsible
and transparent way, with lower interest rates, due to the District’s “AAA” credit rating.
To honor the MWRF’s one-year anniversary, Mesa Water’s Board invites you to the District’s
MWRF Open House on Thursday, March 13, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., featuring
tours of the facility with Mesa Water’s expert staff. To RSVP, visit MesaWater.org, call

Tap Water: Safe & Affordable from Mesa Water
Here’s a little known fact: It takes 36 ounces of
water to make each 12 ounce bottle of water.
With the majority of bottled water sourced from
municipal supplies, it makes sense to drink from the
tap instead of purchasing bottled water in disposable,
plastic bottles from the store. The majority of those
plastic bottles, even if placed in a recycling bin, end
up in landfills or polluting our waterways.
Most bottled water costs about $1 for an individual
20-ounce size, but tap water provided by Mesa
Water costs 1 penny for 2 ½ gallons.
Mesa Water provides
customers with pure, highquality, soft water that meets
or surpasses state and federal
drinking water standards. In
other words, the water from
your tap is safe to drink!
By minimizing the amount of bottled water you drink,
you can reduce your carbon footprint, conserve
water, and save money.
