Energy Saving Tips
• Turn down your thermostat by one degree
NO STAMP
REQUIRED
•
Insulate cavity walls and top up your loft
insulation to 300mm to help keep the heat
in your house for longer!
•
•
Service your boiler once a year.
•
Make sure that you turn off your lights,
appliances and chargers when you’re
not using them.
•
Close your curtains at night to keep
the heat in. Don’t drape the curtains over
radiators as this will send the heat out
through the windows.

Energy saving light bulbs can use up to
80% less electricity and can last almost
10 times longer than ordinary bulbs.
When making tea and coffee only boil the
amount of water that you need rather than
filling the kettle up every time you boil
(make sure to cover the element though).
Run your washing machine on full loads –
and use half load or economy programmes
if you have them.

oil together and enjoy the savings and benefits this
provides.
How does it work?
Members place their order with a community
co-ordinator. Orders must be placed by a specific date
each month. Participating oil suppliers are then contacted
and the best price negotiated for the bulk order.
Members are then advised of estimated delivery dates.
the freepost address provided.

What are the benefits?
It is free to join and by making the most of bulk buying
we can make savings and pass them onto members.
We can get convenient, reliable oil deliveries, saving
you the time and effort of comparing price quotes from
various oil suppliers.
The environment benefits too
Every time a tanker makes a delivery it uses a lot of
fuel, a full tanker can get as little as 8 miles per gallon.
If deliveries are organised so that one tanker delivers
to several costumers in the same area instead of
making lots of individual deliveries, the tanker’s fuel
consumption is reduced.

How much could you save?
Similar schemes operating in Northern Ireland are
saving their members between 3 and 6 pence per litre
so for a 500 litre delivery you could potentially save
between £15 and £30.

Budgeting
It is important to budget for the cost of your oil
by putting some money away throughout the year,
for example £30 – £40 a week.*
Why not join your local Credit Union to help
save money and avail of their low interest loans,
or purchase your local council’s £5 oil stamps
from participating retail outlets.
