CHAPPY’S CHAT
It’s interesting we are teaching our students to write persuasively, for I can
hear all you parents and carers saying: ”Our kids always get what they want,
‘cause they whinge so much we are forced to say ‘yes’!”
Happily, persuasive writing is about teaching our students to construct richer
and more complex sentences and essay structures. This will make your
children better communicators; and we all know that in any family,
communication is sometimes left wanting! Next Monday the older class is off to see a journalist, to gain
some tips from a professional communicator.
Garden Club already has some sprouts popping up from last week’s planting. More to do this week, along
with the tough stuff – weeding….
Please help our P&C raise funds with our raffles. If you could leave some non-perishable food items in the
donation basket at the Office this week, that would be appreciated. Remember to come to their AGM on
Monday 13th March.
Hope you have an excellent week.

P&C News – 6 March 2017
Just a reminder that next week, Monday 13 March, the Giru State School P&C Association
will hold their AGM and monthly meeting starting at 7.00pm in the staff room. If you wish
to nominate yourself or someone else for an executive position, complete the nomination
form which was included in the newsletter last week and return it to the school office.
Remember without a P&C Association the school is unable to fundraise and reduces the
opportunity for parents to provide input regarding policies and activities within the school.
Don’t forget your application form, also included in the newsletter last week, for
membership of the P&C Association, this allows you voting rights at P&C meetings.
P & C Association – Hotel Raffles
The P & C – Fundraising Committee are rostered to
run the Hotel Raffles at
The Giru International Hotel on
Sunday 12th March
between 12:30-1:30pm
We are asking for support from parents to donate
non-perishable food items.
These can be left in the office in the donation basket
by Friday 10th March.
Come and support the committee.
