SAT & AP Score Comparison We recognize that there are many ways to express the value of a Brookwood education. Some of these ways are more quantifiable than others. We are proud of our students, and the challenging academic environment that our teachers are able to create. After grade point average and rigor of courses studied, a student’s scores on standardized tests, such as the SAT and AP exams, are often the next compelling factors in competitive college admissions. The successful completion of Advanced Placement courses, as evidence by the score on the AP exam, demonstrates a student’s ability to perform on college-­‐level work. While each college or university handles college-­‐level coursework differently in the admissions process, AP credit is compelling in that it is standardized. That is, the AP scores of a Brookwood student are comparable to any other student in the United States who took the same exam. The “pass rate” for AP exams is the percentage of exams taken by students with scores of 3 or above (the highest score that a student can receive is a 5).
